Reporting to the General Manager, the Senior Electrical Engineer will be a key member of the operational team. What You'll Do Here: To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following: Designing electrical distribution and substation systems, create detailed electrical schematics, diagrams and layouts for power distribution systems and equipment. Designs may include primary schematics, detailed overhead / underground distribution design drawings, stations single line diagrams, Etc. Component Selection, select components as required and generate project bills of materials. Review and approve conceptual and detailed engineering design packages for assigned Substation and Distribution projects. Including review / approval of bill of materials. Technical support to review shop drawings for engineered equipment to ensure compliance to specifications and codes. Lead projects from conception through construction and commissioning, including overseeing and mentoring junior engineers and designers Work closely with peers, other discipline engineers, and field staff to ensure accurate delivery that will meet utility standards, industry standards, and owner requirements Working with the estimate team, support the preparation of proposal writeups, material and construction cost estimates, and project scheduling for responses to requests for proposals (RFPs) Maintain good working relationships with internal groups that support projects such as other engineering disciplines, drafting, procurement, construction, project management, etc. Design coordination with customers, municipal authorities, utilities & various project stakeholders Travel to site and liaise with customers, contractors, municipal authorities, and client representatives What You Bring to the Team: 10+ years of relevant electrical utility engineering distribution design experience Professional engineering license in the State of Michigan Proficiency in the following software is an asset. AutoCAD (2016 or newer) MicroStation (V8 or newer) O-Calc, SpidaCalc or Quick Pole Polywater Pull Planner 4.0 PLS-CADD CYMCAP GIS systems Understanding of the generation, transmission and distribution electrical systems Ability to demonstrate adherence to NESC and client standards in the Michigan area. Experience developing design drawings for variety of electrical distribution utility projects (including Protection & Control, SCADA, Pole Line Design, Underground Design, System Rebuilds, Voltage Conversions, New Connection Requests and Equipment Selection) Experience developing Single Line Diagram and detailed designs of medium to high voltage substations which includes structure and design layouts for switches, circuit breakers, transformers, rigid bus, protection systems, etc. is an asset. Utilization of distribution design experience to construct and determine routes for electrical distribution lines. Experience working on large, multi-disciplinary teams is an asset Be a self-starter requiring minimal supervision Exceptional ability to multitask in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills Must have a valid Driver's License
