Do you thrive on taking mechanical designs from concept to reality? Are you passionate about pushing the boundaries of refrigeration technologies? Danfoss has an exciting opportunity for you!
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our System Solutions Global R&D team. In this role, you will play a critical role in the design, development, and launch of innovative refrigeration systems and components. You will leverage your expertise in design engineering, CAD modeling, manufacturing processes, and product development to deliver high-quality sustainable solutions that meet demanding industry standards.
Job Responsibilities• Drive Design from Concept to Production: Lead the complete mechanical design cycle, from conceptualization and detailed design to prototyping, verification, and validation of new refrigeration products.
• Master CAD and PLM: Utilize your advanced CAD skills (PTC Creo, Windchill, AutoCAD) and deep understanding of PDM/PLM systems (SAP) to create detailed designs, manage product data, and ensure seamless design-to-manufacturing transitions.
• Shape Sheet Metal Expertise: Apply your knowledge of sheet metal and copper tube design principles to develop robust and manufacturable refrigeration assemblies, considering fabrication, punching, bending, and welding processes.
• Champion Quality and Compliance: Ensure design documentation meets ISO and European standards, adhering to Danfoss's Product Development Process (PDP) and incorporating DFMEA, product safety, DFM, and DFS principles.
• Collaborate Across Teams: Partner closely with cross-functional teams, including Procurement, manufacturing, testing, and quality, to ensure successful product launches and ongoing support for legacy products.
• Manage Product Lifecycles: Coordinate prototype builds, conduct reliability tests, and manage change control processes through SAP, ensuring products meet Danfoss's global standards.
• Support Testing and Validation: Coordinate and support performance and application development tests, adhering to EN/IS/customer specifications, both within Danfoss laboratories and at third-party facilities.
• Embrace Agile Design Iteration: Utilize your advanced CAD skills (PTC Creo, Windchill, AutoCAD) and deep understanding of PDM/PLM systems (SAP) to rapidly iterate on designs, manage product data, and ensure seamless design-to-manufacturing transitions within an agile development process.
Minimum Requirements• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 8+ years of proven experience in mechanical design engineering, with a strong focus on refrigeration systems or a related field would be an added advantage.
• Proven expertise in conceptualization, detailed design, design documentation, design calculations, CAD modeling, prototyping, verification, and validation of new products.
• In-depth understanding of feature-based parametric modeling and assembly modeling, with hands-on experience using CAD packages such as PTC Creo, Windchill, and AutoCAD.
• Hands-on experience and proven knowledge of handling PDM/PLM systems with SAP for sheet metal assemblies and system design documentation.
• Experience in sheet metal and copper tube design and development for refrigeration assemblies, with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as fabrication, punching, bending, and welding.
• Experience with design documentation to comply with ISO and European standards.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively interface with cross-functional teams and external partners.
