Senior Engineer - Metallurgy Mapleton, IL The Mapleton Foundry is one of the largest in the United States and home to the largest core making machine in the world! Working at the foundry is hard work that demands focus and safety, quality, and commitment to helping our customers build a better world. We are looking for a Senior Metallurgical Engineer who will design, develop, build and evaluate metallurgical processes and iron castings.
Responsibilities Providing ownership, support, and advancement of key metallurgical processes in the production of iron castings. Performing data extraction/analysis, failure analysis and problem solving, application of simulation tools and methods, and practical application of theory and concepts. Testing products, analyzing test data, and making modifications to ensure compliance with specifications and requirements. Building, testing, and modifying metallurgical processes in the foundry and lab using working models and/or theoretical models. Degree Requirement: Bachelor's degree from an accredited Materials Science, Metallurgy, or equivalent program.
Experience Requirement: Professional experience in foundry, metallurgy/ met lab, or other manufacturing roles.

Technical Excellence: Level Working Knowledge:
Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
Project Management: Level Working Knowledge:
Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies: Level Basic Understanding:
Knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance.
Product Testing: Level Extensive Experience:
Knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing.
Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Level Working Knowledge:
Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment.
