Summary As a critical member of nLIGHT and the Finance team, the Senior Finance Manager for Defense will be working with executive management and partnering with all areas of the business to support the growth and profitability of the defense business group in a complex manufacturing environment.
This position will require someone with very high personal and professional values, excellent judgement, and strong leadership skills.
Functions: Business Partnering - Support senior management with contract proposals, negotiations, and performance.
Provide recommendations and develop reporting/processes that improve insight and decision-making.
Strategic Planning - Advise on long-term outlook and develop strategic models that help influence long-term business decisions.
Reporting - Develop reporting using various delivery methods to support both understanding of results and outlook, but also support execution on programs.
Forecasting - Coordinate and prepare rolling forecast and planning scenarios using both traditional FP&A and EVMS tools.
Provide guidance and advice to improve forecasting and reporting accuracy, improve results, and identify areas of risk.
Financial Reporting Support-.
Review accounting packages to ensure accuracy, provide explanations of trends and variances, and develop reporting that helps provide better organizational understanding of results.
Compliance Support - Support proposal reviews, annual rate proposals, and reviews/audits with DCAA/DCMA.
Partner cross-functionally on issues to ensure FAR compliance, support external audit requirements, and protect sensitive information.
Lead departmental, inter-company, and cross-functional teams to improve reporting and processes, which may range between accounting, operations, government contract and/or finance-focus, and require willingness to stretch knowledge and expertise based on the needs of the organization.
Qualifications & Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or similar field.
MBA preferred.
Minimum 10 years of experience in a Corporate Finance or Program Control organization supporting Government Programs, ideally in a dual-segment manufacturing company.
Power user of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Experience with EVMS, Forecasting, and ERP systems.
Strong understanding of FAR and CAS requirements.
Ability to organize and complete multiple high-priority projects on schedule.
Advanced problem-solving skills and strong judgement.
Strong communication skills, including ability to communicate complex information to management.
Creative and tenacious problem-solver with strong analytical skills.
