About this role

What will you be responsible for?
•Support the Site Business Manager to align the operations with the achievement of site target financial metrics (CSC, AISC, EBITDA, FCF, Capital, etc.).
•Assist with the development and completion of the annual business planning process ensuring completeness and compliance with Newmont policies, and standards.
•Responsible for month-end accounting processes, financial analysis, financial modeling, budgeting/forecasting, and analyzing associated with business activity within operational areas.
•Significant exposure with site leadership and regional leadership communicating results during month-end processes, quarterly forecasts, and the annual business plan.

Your role will consist of

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:
Business Improvement, Analytics
•Responsible for closing the books on a monthly basis for all income statement accounts.
•Quickly apply standard financial calculations and concepts, must work cross functionally with core functions and regional leadership where collaboration and partnering is central to success.
•Prepare detailed financial and accounting models that summarize both the short and long term economic impact of potential site process and/or procedural changes.
•Participate in monthly cost reviews with various cost center managers
•Attend monthly financial calls with the SLT (Site Leadership Team) and take meeting minutes for all SIC (Site Investment Council) meetings.
•Be able to effectively and efficiently develop impactful presentations that very simply and succinctly summarize the outcomes, significant exposure with site senior leadership and regional leadership.

Planning and Forecasting
•Support cost center managers in the preparation and input of yearly business plans and budgets for the site operation ensuring the integrity of submissions and compliance with regional assumptions and guidance.
•Responsible for input of site support data into the business planning systems.
•Organize initial reviews with cost center managers to determine reasons for variances to previous plan and provide analytical support during site panel reviews and regional reviews.
•Ensure completeness of strategic plan data working with planning system Xeras, Tableau and BPC to ensure monthly, quarterly and yearly data is accurate.
•Lead the compilation of monthly variance analysis, comparing budget versus forecasts and previous plan, etc. highlighting opportunities for improved performance
•Work with the Process and Mining teams to ensure statistical data is accurate.
•Prepare relevant management reports for Regional Leadership and other key stakeholders.
•Present forecast and budgeting materials as assigned.
Investment System, Capital Accounting
•Support and facilitate a robust investment review system and approval process through initial review of IRPs before submission to investment council.
•Ensure compliance with requirements of the Newmont Investment Standard at site.
•Lead the site pipeline discussion with regional IVM on a monthly basis.
•Ensure the Investment System is updated on a regular basis.

Building Relationships
•Must develop excellent relationships built on trust across the deployment site.
•Organize, facilitate and contribute to interviews with on-site personnel to elicit areas of opportunity whilst accurately capturing feedback and actively listening to ensure follow-up lines of enquiry are pursued when required.
•Be able to identify data and knowledge gaps, assess the risk of these gaps to overall program delivery and be able to leverage onsite and/or SME relationships to collect any missing information.

Here is what we need to see from you!
Education:
•Degree qualification in Business, Business Finance, Economics or Accounting, with preference being given to candidates possessing a Mining or Engineering degree with additional graduate Finance, Economics or Accounting qualifications. Other technical degrees may also be considered based upon the candidate's academic history.
•Thorough knowledge of financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
•Demonstrated knowledge of statistical tools and methods for analyzing multi-variable data sets.
•Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and cost benefit / value creation analysis.
•Experience in SAP and Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC) is preferred.
•Demonstrated people management experience and the ability to work with internal and external partners and experience with continuous improvement programs and integrated management systems.
Experience:
•At least 5 years confirmed experience in mining (preferably Newmont), data analysis or business improvement related field.
•At least 4 years in a role(s) that required strong partnership, communications, and change enablement.
•Strong business acumen with emphasis in economics, finance and accounting.
•Knowledge of Newmont business practices, communication guidelines, mining operations, and business administration practices is required.
•Proficiency with the Microsoft suite of products including Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point.
•Tableau and BPC knowledge is preferred.

Working Conditions & Location
•The position is Hybrid and located at the Cripple Creek & Victor gold mine in Colorado.
•Scheduled work week is Monday-Thursday

The salary range offered for this role is USD $90,720- 97,565. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate's salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company's performance and their own individual performance.
