Anticipated Hiring Range: $80,000 - $90,000
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; eligible for 1 day a week remote work after training.

About the DepartmentThe Occupational Health Section, as part of the Occupational Safety and Health group at EHS, provides services to the extended campus community. This group handles programs including medical surveillance, respiratory protection, hearing conservation, and control of chemical and physical hazards affecting health.
Job ResponsibilitiesThe Industrial Hygiene Consultant will provide program leadership for the Occupational Health section of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS). Responsibilities include:
Develop and implement comprehensive industrial hygiene programs, policies, and procedures.Conduct worksite evaluations to identify and control potential health hazards.Mentor junior industrial hygiene staff and lead various IH activities such as air sampling and exposure assessment.Analyze data from evaluations and prepare professional reports with guidance and recommendations.Collaborate with campus stakeholders to resolve industrial hygiene issues and recommend appropriate controls.Provide training on industrial hygiene issues and stay current with applicable regulations.Develop goals for effective program management, including budget proposals.Act as a resource and provide expert guidance to EHS leadership on industrial hygiene matters.QualificationsMinimum Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree and two years of related experience; or Master's Degree in a relevant field; or equivalent combination of training and experience.Other Required QualificationsAbility to build new programs based on understanding of safety and health regulations.Experience in managing an occupational health group.In-depth experience with exposure prevention techniques and indoor air quality.Effective communication skills, both oral and written.Able to analyze programs and prioritize needs for effective planning.Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree in a related field plus 5 years of progressive experience.Professional certification – Certified Industrial Hygienist desirable.Experience in research environments and with animal research preferred.Required License(s) or Certification(s)Valid driver's license required.Valid NC Driver's License within 60 days of hire.Application InformationPlease include as attachments a resume and cover letter.
