The Senior IT Project Manager drives the execution of projects to achieve the organization's strategic goals. The position provides organization and structure to projects, promotes communication between teams, and streamlines our internal development processes/ operations to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and meet strategic objectives. The Senior IT Project Manager provides leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the project team, ensuring that PMO principles and best practices are followed throughout the project lifecycle.
POSITION DUTIES:
Leads cross-functional teams, managing major systems and business projects, building consensus, and proactively identifying and resolving issues. Provides strategic and tactical input to attain project outcomes on time and within budget.
Develops key project deliverables including project charters, project schedules, resource plans, communications, training and go live readiness plans with input and approval from stakeholders.
Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, documentation, and presentations. Communicate project schedule and status, key accomplishments, upcoming tasks, and any risks or issues involved with the projects. Responsible for communication of project status updates to Senior Leaders, Sponsors, and Stakeholders.
Ensure that project deliverables are met and that the desired business results are obtained.
Identifies resource needs, acquiring resources, and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects according to plan. Ensures that resources assigned to the project have all the tools and information needed to perform their project tasks.
Conduct project Post Implementation Reviews and document knowledge gained on the project to capture lessons learned and continuously improve execution.
Assist in evolving the PMO capabilities - Identify, maintain, and train on best practices, processes, and work products for project management adhering to project methodologies. Provide input into the creation of development plans and training to build and strengthen project management skills.
Continually seek opportunities to improve business and IT collaboration and integration.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science or related field preferred
Master's degree in a business discipline a plus
10 years + progressive project management/ program management experience
PMP certification strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of Agile (CSM) certification a plus
Experience leading highly visible strategic initiatives across the organization.
Experience leading multi-year projects surrounding digital transformation and financial applications.
Highly proficient in Project Management tools, Microsoft Project, and JIRA a plus
Proven track record of successfully delivering complex IT projects on time, within budget, and with high quality.
Strong leadership skills and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to anticipate and address potential risks and issues.
Knowledge of IT best practices, industry standards, and emerging trends in IT project management and Agile methodologies.
