The Senior IT Systems Administrator is an IT generalist who has experience working with a hybrid (on-prem and cloud) environment and with SaaS based applications. This person will be responsible for provisioning and supporting the servers, network, and end-user computer infrastructure, to support the ongoing and evolving research efforts at The AI Institute.
\n What you will doMaintain, configure, and support, the computer systems, network devices (wired and wireless), servers, and virtualized environmentsTroubleshoot hardware and systems errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issuesMaintain documentation of IT proceduresAutomate processes for monitoring and patching IT systemsLead desktop and helpdesk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions What we are looking forAssociate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience requiredMinimum of 5 years of network administration, or system administration experienceStrong knowledge of IT systems, software, hardware, and networking protocolsStrong troubleshooting skillsExperience with providing first level IT support for in-office and remote employeesExperience working in a mixed (Windows, Mac, Linux) desktop environmentExperience with IT systems monitoringExperience with IT process automation Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environmentAbility to effectively communicate both verbally and written Ability to work in The AI Institute's office in Cambridge, MA 5 days per week BonusSystem administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fieldsExperience managing a Google Workspace environmentExperience with Google CloudWorking knowledge of virtualization and containerizationExperience analyzing, troubleshooting and optimizing WiFi These attributes are great to have but not required for our candidates.
