Akana, a Native American-owned multi-discipline consulting firm with a diverse portfolio of clients and projects throughout the United States, seeks to add a Senior Landscape Architect to our firm. This role involves collaborating with a diverse group of professionals to design culturally specific master plans, community spaces, cultural facilities, recreation areas, and site development projects across the West. This position is full-time hybrid and reports to our Portland, Oregon office. About Us: Akana provides multidisciplinary architecture and engineering design, planning, environmental and construction services. The Senior Landscape Architect will work in our Design Services Division with our Vice President of Design and Landscape Architecture Group supporting technical staff, overseeing junior staff and assist with planning, design, and construction administration of small to medium scale multifamily, cultural, institutional and government projects. Responsibilities: Key role in multi-disciplinary project teams, focusing on community spaces, site development, and community engagement. Lead and manage projects, from master planning to construction documentation and administration. Collaborate with in house engineers, architects, planners, and other specialists to achieve project goals. Establish and manage project budgets and schedules. Contribute to proposals, presentations, and marketing efforts Oversee junior staff and participate in staff mentoring. Participate in the recruitment and interviewing process as requested. Required Qualifications: Licensed Landscape Architect with 10 plus years of professional experience and a degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited university. Highly motivated, well-organized, and possess a strong work ethic. Expertise in leading and managing complex projects from initial concept through to completion. Proficient in AutoCAD, Land Fx, Adobe Creative Suite, and other design software. Able to produce design concepts, construction drawings and specifications. Can lead/manage construction administration for a project. Experienced in public outreach with strong presentation skills for clients, and communities. Comfortable working with broad client base in diverse environments and varied terrains. Passionate about native ecosystems and integrating sustainable practices into designs. Strong written and verbal communication and collaboration skills.
