The OpportunityWe are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Machine Learning Scientist to join the BRAID team (Biology Research | AI Development) within our Computational Sciences organization. The successful candidate will focus on developing novel machine-learning methods to transform drug development and clinical trial design, including multimodal generative models, representation learning, and reinforcement learning. The candidate is expected to routinely publish work in top-tier Machine Learning and scientific venues. This role requires a deep understanding of machine learning concepts, a passion for innovation, and a commitment to improving healthcare outcomes through cutting-edge technology.
We are looking for exceptional researchers with a demonstrated research background in machine learning, a passion for interdisciplinary research and technical problem-solving, and a proven ability to develop and implement ideas from research.
Key Responsibilities Design and implement novel machine learning algorithms tailored to the complexities of clinical trial data (e.g., foundation models for longitudinal data, geometric deep learning models for biological data, foundation models for image, text, and omics data).Collaborate with cross-functional teams including biologists, clinicians, data scientists, and other stakeholders to integrate machine learning solutions into clinical decision-making.Analyze complex biological and clinical data to derive insights and guide decision-making in drug development and trial design.Keep abreast of the latest developments in machine learning and their applications in healthcare and clinical trials.Publish findings in relevant journals and conferences.Who you areEducational Background: Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.Experience: Proven track record with 1+ years of experience developing and applying advanced ML models in a research or industry setting.Technical Skills:Proficiency in scientific programming languages such as Python as well as MLOps workflows (e.g., familiar with code version control, high-performance compute infrastructures, and machine learning experiment monitoring workflows).Extensive experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g., JAX, PyTorch, Tensorflow).Strong background in statistics, probabilistic modeling, and data analysis.Soft Skills: Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.Publications: Strong publication record and experience contributing to research communities, including conferences like NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, ICCV, etc.Preferred You have an extensive track record of delivering innovative solutions in machine learning, strong communication skills, and the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences and interface with scientific leadership.You have practical experience in one or more of the following areas: reinforcement learning, graph neural networks, representation learning, and generative learning.You have a passion for solving complex technical problems and a commitment to staying up-to-date with the latest developments in machine learning.Relocation benefits are available for this job posting.
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $165,200 to $306,800. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
