As a Thermal Hardware Manager on Lunar Transportation, you will report to the Senior Thermal Manager and directly support program execution. The products developed provide Lunar Transportation lander vehicles with Thermal products to enable unprecedented crew and mass to surface capabilities. This position will support all aspects of thermal hardware team management to include accountability and oversight of schedule, risk management, and personnel management of a team responsible for hardware design, development, specification, and vendor technical management.

Responsibilities

Responsible for leading a technical team to develop and deliver thermal components such as radiators, multi-layer insulation, pumps, heat exchangers, cold plates, sublimators, valves, heat pipes, heaters, and sensors.

Accountable for definition, specification, and development of hardware (in house and external) to meet mission objectives and satisfy requirements while balancing cost, schedule, and risk.

Recruit, hire, manage, and mentor a diverse, equitable, and inclusive team.

Manage your direct reports' professional development (e.g., coaching, routine one-on-one development conversations, performance reviews, and promotion management).

Develop robust plans meeting deliverables and manage to the key operating metrics - including technical, cost, schedule, and risk.

Develop product roadmaps, including development and incorporation of technologies to meet future mission requirements.

Work with internal and external customers to understand and shape stakeholder current and future mission needs.

Perform technical work and provide technical leadership of the highest caliber.

Monitor technical progress, requirements, budget, schedule, deliverables and risks as well as review recommendations for change with program management.

Communicate progress to leadership team via; program management reviews weekly/monthly, finance reviews, long term forecasting business plan, and project deep dives.

Utilize good engineering and business judgement to ensure the most efficient and effective product is designed, manufactured, procured, tested, qualified, and delivered.

Qualifications

5+ years managing technical teams and/or leading functional groups with responsibility for leading and coaching employees.

5+ years in design or test of hardware relevant to spacecraft thermal systems.

Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering or similar.

Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired

Experience with active and passive thermal control systems.

Demonstrated capability to manage component and subsystem level test campaigns.

Familiar with agile project management.

Experience with space vehicle design, verification, integration and test.

Experience with critical path scheduling, IMP/IMS, risk management, requirements management and Cost Account Management such as EVM.

Experience managing subcontracts.

Compensation range for on site CO applicants is $142,406-$208,862.

Compensation range for on site WA applicants is $154,875-$227,150.

Discretionary bonus: Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
