JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Master Planner is responsible for developing creative and innovative master plans from Pre-Ideation through Schematic for projects implemented by Universal Creative. Under the direction of the Senior Manager, manages the formulation of master plans for the development and construction of new resorts, themed destinations, attractions, and renovations across all Universal Destinations & Experiences (UDX). Manages the periodic update of all existing Master Plans for all UDX. Directs and reviews Master Planning design from outside firms as needed. Develop graphic and narrative reports on project sites and land planning. Develop drawings, sketches, master plans, models and creative design and planning solutions during the Pre-Ideation, Ideation, Feasibility, Concept Development, Schematic Design phases. Responsible for review of subsequent phases of work by other teams. Responsible for producing feasible and constructible projects to meet project program, creative intent, schedule, and budget requirements.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage and develop resort, park, facility and attraction master plans in AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and other tools to support the creative project development. Develop graphic and narrative reports on project sites and land planning.
After handover to project teams, reviews, and provides direction to project teams during subsequent phases of design process.
Directs and reviews Master Planning and Area Development design contracted through outside firms as needed.
Participate in the development of master planning and creative concept development.
Responsible for providing aesthetic design, color boards, sketching and drafting needed to convey the design intent to outside Master Planning firms.
Provide electronic 3-D modeling services in Sketch Up or other formats that accurately and clearly depict the master plan and area development design intent.
Ability to assemble documentation into a presentation format utilizing Adobe Photoshop, Power Point and/or other digital formats.
Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong design portfolio.
Knowledge of design management, work planning, budgeting, scheduling, and working with a variety of vendors.
Knowledge of theme park technologies including ride, A/V, robotics, engineering, and various show systems.
Knowledge of theme park related architectural, project management, organizational, and production/construction practices.
Demonstrates ability to lead creative and technical.
Makes independent choices free from immediate supervision.
Possesses solid aesthetic sensibilities and storytelling skills to support the creative process and to facilitate positive and productive communication between all disciplines.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Highly creative with a keen sense of design.
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Oversee diverse design disciplines and manage internal resources.
Possess the ability to negotiate contracts for design services required to execute scopes of work.
Interpersonal skills required to relate and provide value-added services to multiple operating groups including Food service, Merchandising, Operations and Maintenance.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree required in Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Design, Architecture or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:

6+ years: Experience in Master Planning and Execution Required. Experience in Theme Park, Hotel and Entertainment Venues Preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Hand and computer drawing, and drafting skills required. Experience with AUTOCADD, Sketch Up, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and PowerPoint required.
