MaineHealth Franklin Hospital, a 25-bed critical access hospital located in the scenic western foothills of Maine, is seeking an experienced clinical leader to serve as its Senior Medical Director for Physician and APP Services.
Working in close partnership with an administrative dyad partner and hospital CMO, the Senior Medical Director will be responsible for the development of MaineHealth Medical Group clinical, operational, and financial strategies at Franklin Hospital and will be an active leader in regional ambulatory quality, safety, and regulatory affairs as well as provider recruitment initiatives.
The 900-member Franklin Hospital care team includes 120 physicians and APPs who are among the more than 2,500 providers across the MaineHealth Medical Group.
The Senior Medical Director will manage medical and associate medical directors across several clinical specialties, including: internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, OB/GYN, general surgery, urology, pain medicine, and orthopedics.
The Senior Medical Director will report directly to the Regional Vice President, Physician and APP Services, Mountain Region and be part of the Franklin Senior Leadership team.
In addition to the administrative responsibilities of the role, the Senior Medical Director will also have a clinical appointment at Franklin Hospital with a strong preference for a primary care specialty.

Requirements
MD/DO or APP certification required from an accredited program.
Licensure in the state of practice, Federal DEA number, Medical Staff membership, and appropriate clinical privileges; must achieve and maintain Board Certification in respective specialty.
Physician with previous leadership experience and exceptional clinical reputation.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Well-versed in healthcare finance and knowledgeable of practice information technology (ideally Epic).
Possesses contemporary market insight regarding the current status, trends, and outlook for the healthcare delivery system.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically while remaining operationally and financially grounded.
Solid operational and financial skills to ensure that resources are applied in the most effective manner for achieving quality of care and service.
Possesses the political, interpersonal, and organizational skills to work effectively in a matrix management setting.
Action-oriented and results-driven, with a sense of urgency and the ability to instill this in others.
