Dessert Holdings is looking for a Senior Packaging Engineer to be responsible for innovation, development, and go-to-market execution of packaging solutions, as well as maintaining and updating our current packaging requirements.
This individual will oversee packaging across the enterprise to find synergies and lead continuous improvement on existing packaging and provide guidance and support ensuring the success of new and existing product launches at each facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Own all aspects of packaging during the new product development process Develop/review die lines, specifications, samples, and written analyses of proposed packaging Support product development throughout the new product process including plant trials Organize and conduct packaging trials for proposed or new products, ensuring "fit for use" Oversee activities concerned with design and development of packaging including change management to implement packaging and process improvements Identify correct packaging BOM components for new FG's being created and or costed Consult with purchasing, engineering, and continuous improvement departments to determine feasibility of proposed packaging Advise manufacturing sites and commercialization on efficient packaging procedures, innovations, including addressing day to day problems as they arise. Identify opportunities to implement sustainable packaging materials and improve sustainability story of current packaging, establish KPIs and tracking to support Review and optimize current packaging materials with focus on standardization Work within platforms and processes to comply with regulatory and customer packaging requirements Work closely with suppliers to support timely project implementation and quality parameters Make recommendations to Senior Leadership around resource allocation, and new investment opportunities to support the core business as well as drive focus into new areas of opportunity New product packaging/label sourcing/design, development, testing and implementation QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Education - bachelor's degree in engineering, Packaging Engineering or related field. 5-10 years of packaging experience Experience working with food consumer-packaged goods (CPG) and knowledgeable of GMP requirements Expertise in flexible film & paperboard packaging development Experienced and demonstrated continuous improvement activities Demonstrated ability to manage projects to completion on time and within budget. Demonstrated leadership skills to perform as a member of cross-functional work teams including ability to work and interact with peers, vendors, various personnel in engineering, QA, and operations Strong troubleshooting and creative resolution skills Strong technical and analytical skills Ability to influence change Detail-oriented and self-motivated Location: Denver, Colorado or St. Paul, MN Ability to work in a high performance, fast-paced team environment Must be willing to travel 30 - 50% of the time Must be eligible to travel between US and Canada About Dessert Holdings
