POSITION PURPOSE:
The Senior Paralegal will oversee the clerical and administrative needs of the Legal functional group. This position will be responsible for tracking, preparing, and submitting regulatory and licensing filings for multiple subsidiary companies operating in various states. The Senior Paralegal will also perform legal research and analysis to provide substantive support to the Legal functional group and the company's internal clients. The Senior Paralegal will be responsible for entity profiles in U.S. Government and other client/vendor systems, such as the System for Award Management. The Senior Paralegal will serve as a primary point of contact for information requests from other functional groups.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Work under the direction and supervision of the General Counsel to support the Legal functional group.Manage the day-to-day legal compliance needs of a business organization comprising a parent company, 23 subsidiaries, and 21 joint venture companies.Serve as a liaison between other departments and the in-house Legal team by assessing, responding to, or escalating matters as needed.Perform legal research using WestLaw and PACER.Prepare resolutions and other corporate governance documents for submission to board of directors.Correspond with internal clients and external vendors, including subsidiary and parent company executives, outside counsel, and representatives of federal and state agencies.Manage and record invoices and payments for outside counsel, professional licensure, and miscellaneous routine filings.Maintain disadvantaged/minority business certifications for multiple entities across multiple states.Receive and brief service of process for General Counsel.Administer LRN online ethics and compliance training platform.Direct, supervise, and train the Junior Paralegal.As needed, assist the Junior Paralegal with management of business licensing, entity reporting, electronic and hardcopy records, and subsidiary entity profiles in the System for Award Management (SAM) and Dynamic Small Business Search (DSBS) systems.Prepare and submit various business and regulatory filings, such as Secretary of State registrations, for multiple entities across multiple states.Ensure corporate licensing compliance by tracking, preparing, and submitting applications and renewals for business licenses, occupational/professional licenses, and other certificates for multiple entities across multiple states.Create and maintain organized electronic and hardcopy office records and files in accordance with appropriate legal and business practices.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in the ordering, receiving, stocking, and distribution of office supplies for the Legal functional group.Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience Paralegal Certification or Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies or related field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
Skills and Abilities Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively present information and respond effectively in both a formal legal setting as well as in internal communications with business and legal professionals.Excellent interpersonal skills; work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff, and client as well as outside business associates. Demonstrated ability to work accurately, follow instructions/schedules/timelines, and pay attention to detail.Ability to prioritize workload with minimal supervision.Ability to work under pressure, make decisions, solve problems, and exercise good judgment, both independently and as part of a team.Ability to continuously track and monitor various reporting requirements, deadlines, and other company information.Ability to handle confidential company, client, and employee information discreetly and professionally.Familiar with business law concepts related to corporate governance and organization.Proficient in various standard PC-based software packages, including Adobe and Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with regulatory compliance.Experience with government contracting.Experience with Secretary of State or similar filings.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be required to stand, bend, climb stairs, and perform limited stretching, reaching, and light lifting up to 20 pounds.
