The Senior Passive House Verifier will play a pivotal role in managing Passive House (Phius) certifications, supporting SCI's reputation as a leader in sustainable building performance. Our focus is Sustainability & Green Buildings. SCI works with development and construction teams throughout the greater Northeast Region to make better multifamily buildings, with a specific focus in ENERGY Star Homes, LEED for Homes, Enterprise Green Communities, Passive House, HERS Rating, State Incentive Programs, and Code Compliance. Key Tasks:Conduct thorough proposal reviews and develop comprehensive scopes of work for all verifier-related activities. Provide detailed and accurate time estimates to support project planning and execution. Perform in-depth design reviews to ensure compliance with verification standards and co-requisite program requirements. Create detailed and actionable testing plans tailored to project needs and certification standards. Oversee the Phius verification process, including the development and refinement of SOPs and operational systems. Deliver engaging and informative contractor orientations to align teams with project goals and certification requirements. Offer expert support and guidance to all verifiers and raters across SCI to ensure consistency and quality. Organize and maintain centralized resources to streamline access and improve team efficiency. Monitor project scopes closely and coordinate with project managers to trigger change orders as necessary. Regularly audit SCI staff credentials, ensuring compliance and recommending relevant training opportunities. Maintain and ensure readiness of all equipment required for complex performance tests. Stay current with industry standard changes and proactively communicate updates to the broader team. Review and approve closeout documentation to guarantee compliance for all Phius verifier projects. Take ownership of airtightness implementation, supporting contractors to maximize project success. Facilitate regular check-ins with verifiers to address challenges, share knowledge, and develop solutions. Collaborate with construction teams to establish clear, efficient, and consistent processes for Phius certification. Represent SCI at state and regional conferences, presenting insights and advancements in verifier content. Dedicate 50% of work time to performing on-site verification tasks, ensuring hands-on involvement in projects.
Be willing and able to travel to job sites as needed, including occasional overnight trips. Demonstrated experience in managing or contributing to HERS Ratings, Passive House certifications, or other green building rating systems. Advanced understanding of building science, including energy modeling, airtightness strategies, and high-performance construction practices. RESNET HERS Rater Certification (required). Phius Certified Verifier credential (required). Exceptional attention to detail, especially in managing complex verification processes. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams. Leadership experience, including mentoring and managing technical teams. Proficiency in project management tools and Microsoft Office Suite. Education:A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., construction management, engineering, or architecture) or an Associate's degree with extensive related experience or at least five (5) years of experience in the building trades or construction management, along with significant field experience in building construction and performance testing. Additional Requirements:Valid U.S. driver's license with a clean driving record. Authorization to work in the United States. Willingness to travel to job sites, some overnight travel required.
