Nitricity Inc. in Fremont, CA, seeks a Senior Process Chemical Engineer. Design, configure and optimize Nitricity's industrial plasma-chemical fertilizer processes from inception through to
start-up and certification.
Responsibilities Work with Nitricity-affiliated contractors and engineering firms to accelerate product and subsystem development. Assess, design, run, test, and upgrade systems and processes, including assessment of work by third-party contractors and engineering firms. Develop best practices, routines, and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output. Provide process documentation, technical specifications, and operating instructions. Perform process simulations and risk assessments and manage cost and time constraints. Work to provide a timely development of the scale-up of the system processes. Train other process engineers in industrial process engineering. Develop the operating procedures and parameters for the operation of the chemical plant that Nitricity is designing. Develop all the needed documentation of function, safety, and chemical management. Work with the design team to achieve the necessary processes, and work with the controls team to develop the controls programming needed to run the plant. Qualifications Must possess a Bachelor's Degree, or foreign equivalent in Chemical Engineering and 5 years of experience in the job offered or in a related position. Must also possess experience with developing large chemical processes; Gas flow; Thermal management technologies; Chemical engineering principles, including reaction kinetics, mass and heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics; Designing and optimizing chemical processes, including the ability to scale up laboratory-scale processes to industrial production levels; Gas flow behavior, fluid dynamics, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to analyze and optimize gas handling systems within chemical processes; managing and controlling thermal aspects of chemical processes, including heat exchanger design, temperature control, and thermal stability assessments; safety protocols and hazardous materials handling, safety standards, and risk assessment in chemical processes; Materials compatibility, corrosion resistance, and selection of materials for various components within chemical processes; Project management including the ability to plan, execute, and oversee large-scale projects from concept to completion; and environmental regulations and compliance requirements related to chemical processes, including emissions control and waste management. Salary: $155,000/year
