Position Summary: As a Senior Process Engineer – New Product Introduction (NPI), you will lead NPI projects through the Stage-Gate process, ensuring seamless transitions from concept to full-scale production. You will collaborate with Procurement, R&D, Manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams to validate processes, develop tooling, and ensure the manufacturability of new products. Your role will balance short-term problem-solving with long-term strategic process improvements, ensuring that products meet cost, quality, and performance targets while maintaining operational efficiency. Your primary duties and responsibilities will be: Lead NPI Projects Through Stage-Gate Process: Drive new product introductions once transitioned to process engineering using the Stage-Gate framework . Manage products through each stage, including production trials, manufacturing ramp-up, and full-scale launch. Facilitate gate reviews with senior management, ensuring that all required deliverables are completed and that projects stay on track. Stage-Gate Planning and Execution: Define key deliverables, milestones, and timelines for each gate. Ensure that all project requirements are met at every stage and that projects successfully pass formal gate reviews. Cross-functional Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison between engineering, R&D, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and marketing teams. Align stakeholder requirements and ensure these are integrated into the NPI process. Design for Manufacturability: Ensure product designs meet internal standards for efficient, scalable production. Work closely with manufacturing teams to proactively address potential production challenges. Risk Management and Mitigation: Identify and assess technical and process risks throughout the NPI lifecycle. Implement proactive mitigation strategies to ensure smooth product development and launch. Cost, Quality, and Time-to-Market Management: Balance cost, quality, and time-to-market considerations to meet project goals. Ensure that product designs meet cost targets while adhering to performance and quality specifications. Product Validation and Testing: Oversee production trials, validation, and testing activities, ensuring that the product meets all technical, functional, and regulatory requirements before being handed over to production. Vendor and Supplier Coordination: Collaborate with external suppliers and vendors from initial validation through production scale-up, ensuring material availability, quality control, and timely delivery. Process Improvement: Continuously identify opportunities to optimize manufacturing processes, such as improving overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and reducing costs. Improve both the NPI and Stage-Gate processes for more efficient product launches. Tooling and Scale-up: Manage the development and optimization of production tooling for NPI scale-up and manufacturing. Execute layout, installation, and start-up of new equipment with R&D, ensuring compliance with Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) requirements. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including design specifications, test results, risk assessments, and gate review reports. Provide regular updates to management on project progress, risks, and key decisions. Product Extensions: Work with Product Management to develop product extensions (e.g., new colors, shapes, embossing designs) and coordinate any related capital expenditures with Manufacturing Engineering . Technical Support & Documentation: Provide work instructions, training , and troubleshooting guides to Manufacturing teams during product handoff. Ensure equipment-specific parts lists and repair instructions are provided to Maintenance . We believe the successful candidate will have: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Materials, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or related field). 5+ years in engineering or product development, with at least 2-3 years leading NPI projects through structured methodologies like Stage-Gate. Strong expertise in process optimization, tooling development, and cross-functional collaboration. Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders and meet key deliverables on time. Effective communication and documentation skills for cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement. Ability to troubleshoot production issues while driving sustainable, long-term process improvements. Willingness to Travel: Up to 25% to support manufacturing sites. The annual salary for this position ranges from $100,000 in our lowest market up to $130,000 in our highest market, plus bonus, equity, and benefits as applicable.
