We are in search of a talented and results-oriented Senior Product Manager to join our team at Lawson Products.
The successful candidate will focus on executing the product strategy, managing day-to-day business activities, and supporting various business functions to ensure the success of our product line(s) and overall category.
Our corporate headquarters is located in Chicago, IL.
This role operates on a hybrid work model; employees spend two days working in the office and three days working remotely.

Responsibilities Manages one or more product categories.
Leads the development and execution of category strategy to profitably grow the business.
Owns P&L for assigned category and is responsible for driving top line sales and product margin objectives for the lines, within the context of the corporate sales and margin expectations.
The key metrics are sales revenue, gross product margin and product-margin percent.
Ensures top-line sales growth targets are met, working with the sales, marketing, and education teams.
Oversees all aspects of the NPI process through execution, with the NPI sales target as a key metric.
Responsible for all aspects of Go-to-Market strategy, including branding, pricing, and promotions.
Ensures margin objectives are met, working with the sourcing, vendors and pricing teams.
Leverages industry knowledge and insight through customer and supplier interactions, market research, and participation in relevant trade events.
Serves as Subject Matter Expert for the assigned product categories.
Prepares annual business plans, including activities to improve category performance.
For instances where a Strategic/Segment Manager is assigned the Product Manager role: Supports the Strategic/Segment Products Managers in defining product go-to-market strategy including branding, pricing and stocking strategy; establishing product road map / multi-year plan; and market-positioning strategy (Good/Better/Best) to support category or segment growth targets.
Refines the product offerings to best fit customer needs and company goals for the category/segment, working with the Strategic/Segment Products Managers.
For Margin Management Ensures cooperation in defining sourcing strategies, product requirements, and supplier selection, working closely with vendors and internal stakeholders.
Ensures a stable and quality vendor base, working with the Product Sourcing department.
Supports the Product Sourcing department's supplier negotiations to ensure optimal product quality, cost, and delivery conditions.
Prepares product training materials for sales team and conducts new sales representative training sessions.
Works to improve understanding of market needs, in conjunction with sales personnel and customers.
Ensures product offerings are up-to-date, new innovations are reviewed, and customer market needs are understood, through attendance and participation in industry conferences, conventions, and trade shows.
Other duties, responsibilities, and qualifications may be assigned as necessary.
Qualifications & Requirements Bachelor's degree, in business or marketing preferred, with at least five years' experience in industrial distribution, purchasing, sales, product management or marketing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least 2 years in a product management capacity with a demonstrated track record of success is required.
Private Label experience is preferred.
Strong business acumen.
Strong Project Management skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
PC literacy in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
QSSP Certification Preferred.
Familiarity with OSHA regulations a plus.
