As a Product Manager at The Dallas Morning News, you will join the product team where you will be responsible for overseeing the development and enhancement of our flagship digital products: a desktop and mobile website featuring a metered paywall with premium content, as well as native iOS and Android apps for subscribing members.
These products are pivotal in driving our business model, which combines subscription membership and advertising revenue streams.
You will collaborate closely with several teams, including engineering, design, marketing, and content to ensure our digital platforms' successful delivery and continuous improvement.
Additionally, you will be directly involved with growth strategies that include the development of new product initiatives.
Product Strategy and Roadmap Development:
* Define the product vision, strategy, and roadmap in alignment with company goals and market trends.
* Conducted market research, competitive analysis and gathered customer feedback to inform product decisions.
Feature Prioritization and Backlog Management:
* Prioritize features and enhancements based on business value, technical feasibility, and user impact.
* Maintain and groom the product backlog, ensuring clear requirements and acceptance criteria.
Cross-Function Collaboration:
* Collaborate with engineering, design, and content teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
* Work closely with UX/UI designers to create intuitive and engaging user experiences across all platforms.
Product Development and Delivery:
* Participate in the agile development process, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and sprint reviews.
* You can support the timely delivery of high-quality releases, monitor progress, and address roadblocks.
Performance Monitoring and Optimization:
* Monitor key performance metrics and user engagement data to identify opportunities for optimization.
* Iterate product features based on analytics insights and user feedback to improve retention and conversion rates.
Technical Leadership and Stakeholder Communication:
* Serve as a technical expert and advocate for the product, guiding best practices and emerging technologies.
* Work with stakeholders to ensure alignment and direction for both opportunities and prioritization.
* Communicate product updates, milestones, and roadmaps to internal stakeholders and executive leadership.
* You know how to motivate your team to overcome challenges and do whatever it takes to get your project done.
Customer Insight and Opportunity Management:
* Formulate the right business questions that should be asked, and know how to drive a decision.
You can connect project-level outcomes to key metrics that drive your product area, and that are meaningful outcomes for the business.
* You can effectively balance user feedback with the company's business needs and make the right trade-off decisions.
* You're able to use low-fidelity tools (whiteboard, Balsamiq, Miro, Figma) to outline a design approach for a project.
You understand the role that design plays in explaining product functionality to the user and work with design to create products that are easy to understand and use.

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field
* Proven experience 2 years as a Product Manager or similar role in a technology-driven environment
* Ideal candidates should have 5+ years of experience in digital product development.
* Strong understanding of web and mobile technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React
* Familiarity with digital products on native mobile platforms (ie iOS, and Android) is a plus.
* Familiarity with subscription-based business models, paywalls, and digital advertising platforms
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and influence stakeholders
* Experience working in an agile development environment
* Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a track record of delivering complex technical products on time and within budget.
