The Impact You'll Have: We are seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to lead the traffic design team in our Salt Lake City office. This position presents a fantastic opportunity for a self-motivated individual to work in a dynamic and challenging environment. The successful candidate we desire brings expertise in traffic engineering, will manage or task lead projects, lead and develop junior staff, and will help play a key role in marketing Alliant to clients.
We are looking for someone with previous leadership responsibilities and expertise in managing and designing traffic operations including, Signing & Pavement Marking Analysis & Design; Signalization Warrants, Analysis & Design; Lighting Analysis & Design; Development of Safety Studies; Maintenance of Traffic & Traffic Control Design; and/or ITS Systems Analysis & Design.
Responsibilities: Group Management Be a leader in delivering traffic engineering and ITS services for our public and private clientsManage traffic engineering projects and ensure quality of products and conformance to budgetPrepare and/or review traffic design and construction documents for traffic signal, roadway illumination, ITS, signing and pavement marking based on state and national standardsConduct and/or oversee traffic modeling including traffic forecasting, travel demand modeling, and microscoping (VISSIM/CORSIM) modelingDevelop traffic signal timingPerform traffic engineering and safety analysis and develop technical memorandumsLead a cohesive project team that develops plans, specifications, and estimates for projectsPrepares or reviews and approves scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignmentsTalent Recruitment and Development Recruits qualified staff at all skill and experience levelsIn consultation with our Human Resources team, recruit, hire, develop, and retain department staff within the officeSupervising, coaching, and mentoring junior engineering staffClient Relationships, Marketing, Pursuit Development Engage in marketing activities to grow your client network and to bring in new workFosters partnerships and relationships with other consulting firms to assist with business development, building client relationships, and pursuit efforts for projectsAssists in marketing responsibilities, including client discovery, proposal generation, interviews, and win-to-work activitiesProject Management & Technical Leadership Prepare concept plans and construction documents for traffic final design projects, including, traffic signals, roadway lighting, roadway signing, pavement markings and maintenance of trafficPrepare project specificationsAdminister quality management plans and perform thorough, detailed reviews of project deliverablesAssists upper level management and staff as a technical specialist or advisorEstablishes and/or reviews priorities and work schedules and coordinates resource needs/assignmentsActively manage projects and perform project management activities (project scope, schedule, budget, and quality management)Supervise, provide Quality Assurance or perform technical discipline tasks including research, reports, design, specifications, and plan preparationWorks to develop technical strategies and procedures. Monitors and develops appropriate professional standards and integrates the plans and metrics for quality assurance through all phases of project deliveryQualifications: Bachelor's degree in civil engineeringP.E. License in Utah15+ years of traffic engineering experienceStrong working technical knowledge of traffic engineering principles, practices, and standards is required.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environmentCommitment to delivering high-quality work on scheduleSkillful in presenting technical concepts to clients and the public in understandable termsExperience supervising, leading, teaching, and mentoring project staffProficiency with Microsoft Office ApplicationsStrong technical knowledge of traffic modeling software, including VISSIM, Synchro & SimTraffic, HCS, and/or StreetLightWorking knowledge of Bentley based civil engineering design platforms, including MicroStation, GEOPAK(V8I), OpenRoads Designer, and/or InRoadsPrevious Alternative Delivery experience is a plusAt Alliant, we take care of our employees by offering a world class benefit package including:
