Supervise AMES Research Center postdoctoral fellows 2. Travel off-site occasionally to collect data and/or meet with community partners 3. Inform psychoeducational interventions DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES*: Knowledge of military, veteran, and military family health, wellbeing, and culture Knowledge of first responder (e.g., police, fire/rescue, EMS) health, welling, and culture Knowledge of academic subjects pertinent to health and wellbeing (e.g., psychology, public health, human performance, medicine, biology, sociology) Ability to integrate perspectives from multiple academic disciplines Knowledge of interventions to improve mental and behavioral health ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: (Preferred qualifications) Knowledge of the research population(s) or subject area(s) that the center/institute studies, evidenced by prior publication on the population(s)/subject(s) or professional experience working with the population(s) or subject(s) Proficiency in the use of quantitative methods and statistical software for quantitative data analysis and visualization, demonstrated through previous professional or research experience Proficient in qualitative research methods and analysis, demonstrated through previous professional or research experience Strong scientific written and verbal communication skills, evidenced through previous publications in peer-reviewed journals and/or referred conference presentations Knowledge of research ethics, especially with human subjects, demonstrated by previous creation and submission of IRB applications for human subjects research and/or use of platforms to facilitate replication and reproducibility Knowledge of program evaluation and/or needs assessment, demonstrated through previous professional or research experience Job Summary Responsible for the planning, implementation, and execution of research activities leading to the establishment of an externally funded research program (e.g., experimental design and implementation, data collection, reduction, and interpretation, manuscript and grant development, and administrative tasks related to the research). May serve as Principal Investigator (PI)/CO-PI for projects and grants, as well as other interdepartmental projects that can be used as cost-share for the research center. This position is considered limited-term staff since it utilizes contingent funding. Continued employment is contingent upon availability of grant funding for this position. Responsibilities KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Plans, leads, conducts, and reports original research initiatives; performs research activities leading to externally funded research program 2. Designs, constructs, and operates highly complex research apparatus 3. Conducts experimental design and implementation, data collection, reduction, interpretation, manuscript and grant development 4. Mentors undergraduate students performing research and supervises research lab 5. Uses standard evaluation tools and methods and assists in creation of new data collection instruments when necessary 6. Responsible for grant writing, proposal development 7. Coordinates with other campus academic colleges to facilitate an interdisciplinary approach to research 8. Performs all duties described in grants and external projects, including but not limited to preparing progress and final reports, conducting literature reviews, collecting and analyzing data, attending grant related meetings, and preparing publications 9. Supervises and mentors other members of grant team when required by grant 10. Disseminates knowledge through reports, articles, white papers, other publications and presentations at local, state and national level 11.
