Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Research Scientist.

Responsible for collaborating with Principal Investigators PI and working independently within the scientific framework of the PI s laboratory Position will be working in the laboratory of Dr Tessa J Barrett the lab is dedicated to elucidating the mechanism and regulation of platelet mediated complications in atherogenesis thrombosis and inflammatory diseases Platelets are key players in thrombosis hemostasis inflammation and immune activation We investigate novel platelet signaling pathways that contribute to cardiovascular risk using clinical data mouse models and cell culture The position will work on investigating novel signaling pathways in platelets with Dr Barrett s lab determined to reach results that change the way we treat and diagnose cardiovascular diseases.
Job Responsibilities: Performs other related duties as assignedInitiates interprets organizes executes and coordinates research assignments critical to departments missionFormulates and conducts research on problems of considerable scope and complexityExplores subject area and defines scope and selection of problems for investigation through conceptually related studies or series of projects of lesser scopeMakes decisions and recommendations that have a major impact on extensive scientific research activitiesDevelops new ideas that promote current research Exercises a high degree of creativity foresight and mature judgment in planning organizing and guiding extensive scientific research programs and activities of outstanding novelty and/or importanceMay manage the operations of a lab for the Principal Investigator by supervising Post Docs and technicians Oversees the maintenance and upkeep of all instruments and laboratory facilitiesEnsures timely and accurate completion of research projectsMay provide students with technical guidance and direction in the operation of various sample preparation techniques extraction lines and equipment as well as general laboratory practices and safety protocolsMay seek grant funding from external sources in support of their independent research projects with consent of the PI and the Department Chair May participate in writing grant proposalsMay be responsible research/lab quality control and complianceMay develop protocol for the collection and quality of research dataDevelops research techniques and methodologiesMay determine and establish laboratory policies procedures and practicesMaintains a thorough knowledge of the advances in specialized fields through attendance of scientific conferencesMay make significant contributions to scientific papers Is a resource/ author/ co author for reports and presentationsMay provide recommendations for equipment purchases and for the redesign of lab spaceMay coordinate the activity and experimental design between various labs scientific staff and collaborators Identifies and resolves technical problemsMay serve on internal committees to help further goals of research projects and bring new expertise to the research programMinimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a PhD and 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Qualifications: Substantial experience from having completed Post Doc training Established a record of publicationsThe ideal candidate holds a PhD and/or an MD in biological sciences or biomedical related fieldsCandidates must have a solid background in one or more of the following fields: thrombosis and hemostasis immunology and/or atherosclerosisWe seek a creative and driven individual with a strong publication record ideally with expertise in platelet or myeloid cell physiology cardiovascular research molecular biology flow cytometry and/or imaging/microscopyExperience in high throughput sequencing study design and interpretation e g CITE seq ATAC seq is highly desiredApplicants with murine and animal microsurgery expertise are also encouraged to applyQualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $65,000.00 - $91,728.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
