Essential Job Functions We are seeking a highly skilled individual with strong technical proficiency in data analysis, visualization, and reporting tools. The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to extract and interpret meaningful insights from complex datasets. Effective communication skills are essential for articulating findings and supporting data-driven decision-making across the organization. Attention to detail and accuracy in handling large datasets are critical for success in this role. Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate strong time management skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across various departments.
Data Collection and Management: Gather data from various sources, including databases, spreadsheets, APIs, and external sources. Clean and preprocess data, ensuring data accuracy and completeness. Maintain data integrity through quality checks, data validation, and proper data storage. Data Analysis: Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can support business decisions. Use statistical methods to interpret data and produce actionable insights. Conduct root cause analysis to understand underlying factors affecting business outcomes. Reporting and Visualization: Develop clear, concise reports, dashboards, and visualizations using tools like Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar. Create both standardized and ad-hoc reports tailored to different stakeholders, including senior management, to support strategic planning. Summarize findings and insights in ways understandable to non-technical stakeholders. Data Interpretation and Communication: Interpret complex data sets, translating findings into meaningful business insights. Communicate findings effectively through written reports, presentations, and visual data storytelling. Recommend actions based on data insights to drive business improvements. Collaboration and Cross-Functional Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their data needs and develop relevant analyses. Work closely with IT and others to optimize reporting mechanisms. Technical Proficiency: Proficient in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Python, R) for data extraction and manipulation. Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI, Qlik, Tableau) to create dynamic reports and dashboards. Basic knowledge of data warehousing and database management is a plus. Attention to Detail: Ensure high-quality and error-free data analysis and reporting. Monitor data trends over time to identify potential anomalies or changes in business metrics. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest data analysis and reporting techniques. Proactively seek ways to improve data analysis processes and reporting methods for more accurate and efficient outcomes. Qualifications & Requirements The Data Analyst and Report Writer is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to provide actionable insights that drive informed business decisions for the Risk department. This position involves developing accurate, clear reports and visualizations tailored to various stakeholders, ensuring data integrity, and communicating findings effectively. The role supports strategic planning, identifies trends, and facilitates data-driven decisions.
A minimum of 3 years of data analysis experience and a Bachelor's degree in business, information management, or equivalent experience in a related field is required. Two to five years of experience in a legal or other professional services environment is preferred.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong analytical and critical thinking skills, excellent documentation and communication abilities, acute attention to detail, a collaborative mindset, business acumen, and data mining skills, with a general understanding of Information Technology. Multi-tasking, prioritization, and the ability to produce high-quality work are also essential. Experience with advanced Excel, SQL, Power BI, or Qlik is a plus.
