Decision making and motion planning are the primary responsibilities of mobile robots. Taking input from a variety of perception and localization systems, the planner's job is to figure out where the robot is going and how to get there safely. A key piece of building this complex software is measuring its performance. As a software engineer for autonomy metrics, we will use vehicle and simulation data to help our developers understand how the vehicle is driving and develop innovative metrics for our driving behavior and/or system performance that support decisions, direct efforts, and provide clarity.In this role, you will:Build, integrate, and validate metrics that evaluates vehicle performanceLead complex, cross-functional projectsWork closely with end users to promote a metrics-driven culture and rapid pace of developmentQualificationsExperience in a data-focused role, performing analyses that inform decision makingStrong Python skills for moving and analyzing dataExperience with real-time algorithmsStrong communication skillsAbility to make arguments via data, metrics, and their presentationat least 7 years of industry experienceBonus QualificationsProficient in C++, R, or SparkStrong statistics backgroundMS or PhD in a related fieldCompensationThere are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary will range from $163,000 to $234,000. A sign-on bonus may be part of a compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
