We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our cloud engineering team at Utilidata, focusing on individual contribution and the development of code and infrastructure. This role requires an individual who can produce high volumes of high-quality Python code while enhancing performance, stability, and extensibility as we scale our initial deployments to millions of units. You will work directly with large datasets from our IoT fleet, implementing robust solutions and optimizing performance. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in architecture decisions and provide mentorship to junior engineers. The ideal candidate will have experience in Python, cloud technologies, continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), and big data processing, with a proven ability to deliver scalable software solutions in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for candidates who are collaborative, adaptive and mission-driven. This is a remote position based in the United States. Candidates will be expected to collaborate cross-functionally with remote teams based across the country.
ResponsibilitiesWrite and maintain high-quality Python code to enhance the performance, stability, and extensibility of our cloud infrastructure as well as to implement new features for our customersCreate and maintain CI/CD processes as necessary to support development and deploymentDesign, develop, and implement scalable solutions to handle large datasets from our IoT fleetOptimize existing code and infrastructure for improved performance and efficiency as we scale to millions of unitsParticipate in architecture and design discussions, providing expert insights and recommendationsMentor and guide software engineers, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environmentTroubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring the reliability and availability of our servicesConduct code reviews to maintain code quality and consistency across the teamCollaborate with cross-functional teams to define and prioritize features and improvementsDevelop and maintain automated tests to ensure robust and reliable software deliveryFoster a culture of open communication, innovation, and continual improvementStay current with industry trends and best practices, continuously integrating new knowledge into the development processMinimum Qualifications 8+ years of development with at least 5+ years experience with Python development, including writing, testing, and maintaining high-quality codeStrong background in cloud technologies, such as AWS, and familiarity with managing cloud infrastructureDemonstrated ability to design and implement scalable solutions for big data processingSolid understanding of performance optimization, stability improvements, and infrastructure extensibilityPrior experience in mentoring and guiding junior engineers, with strong communication and leadership skillsEnhanced Qualifications (Nice to Have) Experience with IoT systems and handling large datasets from a distributed fleetExpertise in data analytics and machine learning, particularly in the context of processing and deriving insights from IoT dataProven track record of successfully scaling software solutions from initial deployment to enterprise scaleSalary Range: $135,000 - $165,000 depending on experience
