Description General Information:
Our Hitachi Energy System Engineering group is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the Energy Market Management systems and environments. The Platform Software Engineer leads the development, maintenance, support, provisioning, configuration, security, and operations of platform software used by market applications. This position requires strong coding, problem solving, and communication skills, as well as the ability to provide technical leadership for system and other development teams.
Hitachi Energy is looking for a platform software engineer who can maintain legacy enterprise software services including the design and implementation of new features and bug fixes.
Your Responsibilities: Support, monitor, and troubleshoot platform deployments ensuring proper execution and performance.Support project build teams ensuring proper platform features are delivered.Research, design, develop, and maintain upgrade requests from R&D, customers, other development groups as well as your own.Support the creation/maintenance of platform regression test procedures including standalone and highly available systems.Define and follow advanced Cyber Security controls and processes as they relate to platform software.Keep platform documents updated to reflect latest platform software.Help Application Engineers debug issues.Living Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.Your Background: Experience with different Unix flavors especially Linux OS in virtualized environments.Experience writing/maintaining shared and static service layers.Experience writing highly available/fault tolerant applications.Experience with Korn Shell, Bash, Perl, and other scripting languages.Experience with C, C++, Fortran, and Java programming languages.Experience with Oracle DB including development and maintenance of DDL, SQL, DAT files and use of PL/SQL utility.Experience debugging and patching large, legacy code bases.Experience with debug tools such as GDB and DBX.Ability to engage with customers and resolve issues.Strong technical writing skills.Experience with Cyber Security tools a plus.Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
