As a Frontend Software Engineer working on ESPN products, you will join a team of strong, collaborative engineers that solve interesting technical tasks daily, such as scaling technology for fans across the globe, real-time updating during live events, supporting international languages and sports, and building components that are accessible for all. In this role, you will build features that will have an impact across ESPN's dynamic pages, including game pages, scoreboards, articles, and live streaming. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about solving JavaScript data manipulation problems.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role Build components and modules that are used by millions of fans around the worldParse JSON data using JavaScript into optimal formats for our UI componentsPartner with other engineering teams to solve problems while considering performance, scalability, caching, resiliency, and flexibility for expanding product requirementsWork with native teams to develop seamless webview integrations within the ESPN appSupport live event coverage and triage issues that come in to ensure an optimal experience for our global audienceProvide leadership to ensure successful delivery of initiativesPerform code reviews and mentor junior engineersArchitect new solutions, innovate on POCs, and identify new technologies to exploreRequired Education, Experience/Skills/Training Basic Qualifications BS Computer Science or related technical discipline or its equivalentAdvanced understanding of frontend web development technologies and principlesMastery of JavaScript and JS frameworksEffective communicator, collaborator, and teammateAble to multi-task and prioritize as neededQuick to learn new conceptsMinimum 5 years relevant industry experiencePreferred Qualifications Solid understanding of React and NodeJSIntermediate mastery of AWS services (e.g., Cloudwatch, EC2, S3, etc)Experience with task automation (WebPack) and CSS Preprocessors (PostCSS, Less, Sass)HTML / CSS preferred, but not required for this roleRequired Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
