Job Summary Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to fill the role of Senior Space Acquisition Subject Matter Expert (SME). This key position supports the Air Force Research Laboratory's SpaceWERX Office under the AFWERX program.
As a Senior Space Manager, you will play a pivotal role in providing expert space acquisition guidance to the Director and leadership of the SpaceWERX Office. Your focus will be on developing and executing a comprehensive portfolio management strategy for SpaceWERX, aligning commercial innovation activities across various capability areas, and ensuring their seamless integration into SpaceWERX's planning, processes, and execution activities.
You will also serve as the primary point of contact between SpaceWERX and key stakeholders, including Program Executive Officers, the SSC Commercial Space Office, and other USSF, DoD, and USG partners. A critical aspect of your role will involve driving the identification and implementation of transition strategies for top-performing Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) companies.
This is a remote position with the flexibility to work from any location within the continental United States (CONUS). Occasional travel, up to one week per month, is required.
Skills / Experience Required Required Experience: 20 years of experience in DoD Acquisition, Program Management, or related field Proven leadership as a Material Leader, Squadron Commander, or Program Manager, with expertise in: Managing multiple acquisition programs, including innovation and RDT&E, with a focus on developing key program milestones and master schedules Integrating diverse lines of effort into a cohesive and streamlined execution plan Developing budgets to fund development and procurement activities, ensuring alignment with USSF and DoD PPBE processes Key Responsibilities: Advise on strategic goals, desired end states, annual/quarterly objectives, execution plans, and necessary partnerships to achieve mission success Align SpaceWERX commercial innovation initiatives with USSF Objective Force and operational requirements, addressing critical warfighter needs Collaborate with PEOs and the Commercial Space Office to identify commercial opportunities, and develop strategies for implementation, integration, and transition into DoD and National Security Space Architectures Provide guidance on end-to-end capability integration, including commercial services system-of-systems integration (data flows, timing, user equipment, operational effectiveness, security, etc.) Shape POM and in-year USSF and AFRL investment strategies and priorities Preferred Qualifications: Active Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance Education / Certifications BS degree MA/MS in relevant field Relevant Defense Acquisition University (DAU) Certifications/Competencies such as: Acquisition Management, Business Management, Technical Management, other DoD Program Management Career Field Functional Competencies, preferred PMP (or other industry standard, preferred) Benefits Medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance Flexible Spending Accounts 401(k) PTO Paid Parental leave Tuition reimbursement Paid federal holidays Security Clearance Must be a U.S. Citizen.
