Position Summary
The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial statements for the two operating entities in the US, the fixed asset register, reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly.
The Senior Accountant provides guidance to AP and AR staff for general ledger coding and posting.
This role will maintain and supervise opening and closing of accounting periods in the ERP system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Responsible for maintaining accurate financial statements for the US entities.
Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
Create and maintain general ledger accounts and department codes.
Identify fixed asset purchases, capitalize per policy and maintain depreciation schedules Review, code and enter payroll entries in the general ledger.
Maintain monthly accounting periods to ensure months are closed in a timely manner Review all bank entries on a daily basis to ensure entries are accurate.
Reconcile inter-company transactions for accuracy Assist the AP and AR departments in identifying discrepancies and provide solutions.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business Minimum 7+ years of work experience in corporate accounting or nonprofit finance department Proficient in computer use including Word, Excel and other Microsoft products Proficient in accounting software Understanding of accounting principles and processes Ability to multi-task and create and present reports to management Good communication skills Maintain confidentiality and use discretion where needed Experienced in managing staff Note
