Senior Staff Software Engineer - Customer Engagement

We are hiring for a Front End or Full Stack Senior Staff Software Engineer/Principal Software Engineer for Databricks' Engineering team reporting to an Engineering Leader. You will be part of the Databricks engineering organization, working on one the most important products here within Databricks while working with teams that develop Databricks products and features for thousands of enterprises worldwide. As a Senior Staff Software/Principal engineer, you will play a large part in the team for our multi-year journey to achieve our vision, involved in the entire development cycle and exemplifying all core Databricks values (own-it, data decide, teamwork, customer-obsessed).
Key Characteristics The primary objective for this role is to contribute to Databricks' pursuit of increasing the number of our monthly active users on our platform. The ideal candidate will possess the autonomy and influence to enact necessary changes within the product to support this overarching goal.

The Impact you will have: Significantly influencing the direction and roadmap for the Databricks product.Driving concrete initiatives and changes that directly impact key metrics like monthly active users.Potentially replacing the level of input currently provided by leadership.Stepping into a highly visible and impactful role within the engineering organization.Taking ownership of technical design and implementation for various growth projects.What we look for: 15+ years industry experience building and supporting large-scale distributed systems.Front-end development with full-stack capabilities indicating a strong understanding of user interface development as well as the ability to handle back-end services.Deep understanding of product and the ability to translate requirements technically.Hands-on technical skills and a track record of delivering on projects.Energy and initiative to take on new challenges.Local presence in San Francisco Bay Area or Seattle.A growth hacking and user-centric mindset to drive optimization and new users.BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related majors, or equivalent experience.Pay Range Transparency Databricks is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range(s) for this role is listed below and represents base salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and specific work location. Based on the factors above, Databricks utilizes the full width of the range. The total compensation package for this position may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and benefits.
Local Pay Range: $232,000 — $313,000 USD
