Senior Systems DesignerWe are Media Molecule, a multi-award winning game developer and part of the wider PlayStation Studios group. We have a history of creating outstanding games such as LittleBigPlanet, Tearaway and most recently, the BAFTA Award winning Dreams. It's a fantastic time to join us as we embark on our next adventure, defining and executing the vision for our next project and settling into our gorgeous, newly refurbished studio in central Guildford.We are looking for a talented Senior Systems Designer to join our Design team.  With a passion for systemic design, you will play a key role in creating exciting and compelling gameplay whilst guarding our overall vision.You will be working with an empowered team who inspires and challenges one another in a respectful and safe environment to achieve maximum results. Your Responsibilities...Designing robust & scalable systems, spotting edge cases early and highlighting potential issues or synergies with other systemsCreate accessible prototypes to illustrate your ideas and help inform design documentationIdentify data points to validate a design's success or failure, and the dials required to adjust accordinglyCollaborate with Mm's design and engineering teams, identifying technical requirements, and presenting progress against quality, scope and game vision alignment goalsOptimise technical limitations and proactively identify risks, roadblocks and innovative solutionsProvide technical reference for the wider design team, evaluating features, settings and sharing best practices in production workflowsRapidly respond to and iterate on player feedback & telemetry to increase the quality of the player experience, whilst maintaining the vision of the game  Champion a mindset of innovation and continuous improvement, proactively reviewing, improving and evolving Mm's design tools, processes and pipelinesYou will have...A deep level of understanding and passion for working with game systems, from social to metagame, procedural generation & UXShipped or worked on at least one AAA game Ability to adapt your working style, whether it's working closely with production to identify dependencies and scheduling of work or iterating and solving problems creatively and effectively with our developersProactively keep up-to-date with games industry trends, especially game systems and design innovationsThe ability to self- motivate and thrive in an agile environment.A knack for seeing opportunities to re-use existing systems for different purposes and a curiosity to understand and demystify systems generallyThis is a broad role that will appeal to problem solvers who enjoy thinking about psychology, metagame, UX and social systems designs as well as the ability to communicate brilliantly with both producers and engineers.  Game balancing experience is a bonus!
