Senior Tax Director We are seeking a dynamic Senior Tax Director to join our well-established and highly profitable regional CPA firm.
This pivotal role offers a unique opportunity to manage a diverse portfolio of SEC and closely held client accounts across various industries.

Salary: DOE per year
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Perform a technical tax review and approval of all tax returns and governmental examinations of varying complexity.Serve as a subject matter expert in specialized tax disciplines or industries.Ensure assignments are completed within budget constraints while maintaining high standards of client service.Take full responsibility for larger tax returns and delegate to tax preparers as necessary.Actively participate in client meetings and contribute to tax planning initiatives to support the Audit & Assurance Department with major accounts.Provide resource support for tax preparers/specialists and Audit & Assurance staff on specific tax issues.Assume client service responsibilities directly or delegated by partners.Communicate significant tax and regulatory developments affecting firm clients to appropriate personnel.Manage and represent the firm in governmental tax examinations.Monitor staff performances and appropriately allocate assignments.Plan and conduct professional development programs and trainings for tax department staff.Ensure timely and accurate billing and collection processes.Maintain knowledge of tax, economics, and political trends likely to affect the business climate.Engage in practice development efforts through community and industry activities to enhance the firm's market presence.Develop and coach junior staff, fostering a learning-enriched environment.Undertake periodic evaluations of the tax department's efficiency and effectiveness.Occasional travel and overtime, especially from January to April, with hours potentially exceeding 55 per week.Minimum Position Qualifications: Seven to ten years of public accounting experience, with demonstrated progression in tax complexity and scope.Minimum two years of experience representing clients before taxing authorities.At least one year of supervisory experience, directing the work of tax preparers.Bachelor's degree in accounting; a Master's degree in taxation is preferred.Current and valid Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is required.Minimum forty hours of continuing education annually to maintain and enhance technical and business skills.Membership in good standing with the American Institute of CPAs.Preferred Qualifications: Deep expertise in federal and state tax regulations applicable to both SEC and private companies.Proven ability in handling complex tax planning and compliance challenges.Advanced degree in taxation or relevant law degree.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with thorough attention to detail.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively manage client relationships and lead diverse teams.Benefits: Highly competitive salary dependent on experience.Generous bonuses linked to performance and profitability.5% employer contribution to your 401K plan, ensuring a strong financial future.Comprehensive health and welfare benefits package.Significant opportunities for career advancement and professional growth through frequent training and development programs.Flexible work arrangements to encourage work-life balance, particularly outside of the peak Jan-Apr tax season.
