Senior Management Liability Underwriter - Lower Middle Market (LMM) West Region Job Summary: We are seeking an exceptional Senior Underwriter to join our dynamic team, responsible for managing and underwriting a diverse portfolio of private company Management Liability business. This pivotal role encompasses Directors & Officers (D&O), Employment Practices Liability (EPL), Fiduciary Liability, and Crime coverage. The ideal candidate will oversee an expansive geographic territory, potentially including California, Washington, Oregon, and Colorado, while cultivating and nurturing strategic relationships with key brokers in these areas.
As a vital member of our team, you will contribute significantly to our Lower Middle Market (LMM) regional budget and marketing strategy. The Senior Underwriter will drive growth and profitability within the West Region while adhering to our rigorous underwriting guidelines and risk management protocols.
Key Duties & Responsibilities: Strategically prospect and target new business opportunities, developing innovative approaches to secure new accounts.Establish, nurture, and strengthen relationships with brokers and clients in the West LMM Region.Manage a personal book of business, including new lines, renewals, and cross-selling of AXIS products.Conduct thorough risk assessments and obtain appropriate authority before quoting or binding accounts.Meet and exceed established divisional service objectives related to quote turnaround, policy issuance, broker communication, renewal management, file maintenance, and documentation.Contribute to product development and underwriting guideline refinement.Mentor junior underwriters and participate in knowledge-sharing initiatives.Execute additional strategic projects as assigned by management.Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or related field.Minimum of five years of experience in executive liability underwriting.Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, or RPLU preferred.Demonstrated expertise in financial analysis and risk assessment.Proven track record of meeting or exceeding production targets.Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, and written communication skills.Strong presentation and public speaking abilities.Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).Willingness to travel (up to 30% of the time).Desired Skills and Characteristics: In-depth knowledge of management liability products and market trends.Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.Proven ability to build and maintain strong broker relationships.Experience with underwriting systems and risk modeling tools.Adaptability to changing market conditions and emerging risks.Team player with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.Self-motivated with excellent time management and organizational skills.Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.Join our innovative team at AXIS and play a crucial role in shaping the future of LMM in the West Region. For this position, we expect to offer a base salary in the range of USD $130,000 - $160,000. The specific salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors, including the experience of the successful candidate and their work location. In addition, all employees are eligible for competitive incentive targets, with awards based on overall corporate and individual performance.
