The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role.
Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
Description
As a member of National Accounts Specialty (NAS) Environmental's Management team, you will meaningfully contribute to the growth and profitability of our Site Pollution Legal Liability products through consistent engagement with Underwriters, Underwriting Managers, other Product Line Managers and other key business stakeholders (Engineering, Claims, Legal, Actuary, Finance).
The role requires extensive technical knowledge of underwriting concepts, practices, procedures and techniques, as well as strong insights into the environmental marketplace including experience working with or at key environmental carriers, brokers, consultants or attorneys.
Responsibilities: Serve as industry expert and resource for our Site Pollution Legal Liability products .
Regular communication and interaction with Underwriters and Underwriting Managers to review, evaluate, recommend and approve our most complex pollution accounts and business which falls outside of regional underwriting authority.
Work closely with pollution underwriting teams to review and negotiate key policy terms and conditions, policy language and manuscript endorsements.
Assist other members of the department including all Underwriters and Associate Underwriters in product line and/or technical knowledge, training, and development.
Performs related duties as requested to include report preparation, presentations, and special projects to assist in ensuring the success of our site pollution legal liability products.
Establish and maintain market presence and external relationships with environmental brokers, attorneys, and consultants to facilitate the growth and profitability of our Site Pollution Legal Liability products.
Occasional travel and marketing responsibilities including client meetings/contact, as determined by your direct manager, to support your assigned production teams and regions.
May be asked to underwrite, rate, document, quote and bind select, targeted, new and renewal accounts which are highly sophisticated and complex.
May be asked to review, evaluate and recommend modifications to existing underwriting guidelines or processes or assist in the development of new one's as needed.
QualificationsBachelor's degree or equivalent training plus at least 7 years of relevant pollution production underwriting experience with progressively increasing levels of responsibility.
Requires at least 3 years of previous people management experience.
Requires an advanced knowledge of pollution liability underwriting concepts, practices, procedures and techniques, including, but not limited to coverage issues, product lines, marketing, computers and product competition within the marketplace.
Advanced technical knowledge of specialty pollution underwriting.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with brokers, clients, colleagues, and other internal departments.
Places a high value on collaboration and possesses strong verbal and written communication and organization (multi-tasking) skills.
Strong negotiation, analytical and decision-making skills.
