Electric Vehicle Digital Design (EVDD) is responsible for developing the key technologies and capabilities – such as EV platforms, batteries, e-motors, inverters, charging and recycling – to create ground-up breakthrough electric vehicles. By joining the best software, engineering, design and UX talent, you will be a part of creating new technologies and concepts that can be applied across the Ford enterprise. What you'll be able to do:
Collaborate with Engineering, Design, and Manufacturing teams to develop innovative engineering solutions that enable integrated vehicle systems, efficient manufacturing processes, and key styling themes
Develop and prototype concepts that improve product cost, mass, efficiency, manufacturability, serviceability, and user experience
Drive cross functional product architecture trades between vehicle subsystems (interiors, closures, chassis, thermal, powertrain, electrical distribution, etc.) to determine product direction
Identify and resolve geometrical incompatibilities between systems through first principles and concept 3D
Collaborate with engineers, designers, technicians, and suppliers to procure and build physical properties
The minimum requirements we seek:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent
5+ years experience in automotive or related field, EV preferred
Strong engineering fundamentals, and ability to apply broadly to vehicle systems and manufacturing processes
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills with excellent written and verbal communication
Ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic work environment
CAD proficiency in assembly and part design, FEA, and 2D drawings. Catia and 3D Experience preferrered
Our preferred requirements:
Experience designing and releasing mechanical and electromechanical systems
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office
Strong proficiency in Atlassian tools (Confluence, JIRA)
Strong verbal and written communication
