Role: The SVP of Biology is part of the senior leadership of the company and is responsible for leading, mentoring and growing a high-performing Discovery Biology department. The SVP of Biology will ensure the successful translation of programs into drug candidates and is a critical contributor to developing and progressing our internal pipeline and partnered programs. This role is a key player in our corporate strategy and portfolio development, including project ideation, background research, and working with external KOL's and our SAB to obtain feedback.
Key Responsibilities: Drive the strategic direction of the Discovery Biology department, drawing on an extensive background in discovery and development of biologics, to ensure project goals and timelines are successfully met.Lead decision-making processes for planning, timeline development, project execution, and problem-solving.Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders and Tentarix's Scientific Advisory Board to obtain programmatic feedback and foster collaboration.Develop high-performing teams by facilitating intergroup communication, accountability, and providing real-time feedback.Mentor and provide growth opportunities to scientific team leads and their teams.Responsible for function's budgeting, capacity management, staff training, scientific management of vendors and outsourcing partners.Strategy, compilation, messaging and scientific interpretation for regulatory filings, intellectual property filings, and publications.Prepare and review presentations for external and internal executive audiences (scientific meeting presentations, BOD, investors, etc.).Partner closely with other internal functions such as Biotherapeutics, Program Management, and Senior Leadership, as well as with our corporate partners to support existing and future programs.Qualifications and Skills: PhD or equivalent, and a minimum of 15+ years industry experience, including in small Biotech company settings.Significant experience leading, managing, and developing high-performing teams as well as building and managing productive research collaborations.Therapeutic area expert having driven therapeutic programs through discovery to clinical testing in autoimmunity and/or immuno-oncology is required. Expertise in Fibrosis and Metabolism is beneficial.Proven experience with biologics programs, including antibody and bispecific/multispecific antibody development is required.A strong record of scientific achievement, including successful translation of concept to IND filings, patent filings, and scientific publications.Goal-oriented, organized, capable of prioritizing across multiple projects, and able to execute to timelines that meet company goals.Thrive in a cross-functional team environment and committed to positively contributing to Tentarix's culture.Confident, independent, and decisive with an understanding of the need for involvement at all levels and an attitude to get things done.Committed to company ethics, values, and scientific standards.Consistent track record of personal and personnel development.Our employees are the Company's most valuable asset, so we offer attractive compensation and benefits packages to retain the best in the field. The compensation range for this role is highly competitive, including equity. Actual compensation will take into account a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill set, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The compensation range is $310,000 – 340,000 + benefits + bonus target + equity.
