alignco, a boutique communications firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a Senior Vice President to help lead the health care advocacy and communications practice of our fast-growing firm.
alignco partners with foundations, non-profits, trade associations, and advocacy groups to bring their stories to life in the most relatable, compelling ways. Its team of strategists and changemakers have decades of experience defining, shaping, and elevating some of the most complicated and divisive issues of our day. Alison Betty and David Smith have created and directed award-winning advertising campaigns for major brands and national organizations as well asDemocratic candidates at the federal and state levels.
The Senior Vice President will be a senior leader, collaborating with the Partners to build and grow new business, lead multiple accounts across a wide array of advocacy campaigns and philanthropic organizations, and manage teammates. The primary focus of the Senior Vice President will be to work with our clients in the health care policy space to advance issues around equity, access, affordability, and coverage. Our clients are engaged in many of today's most pressing progressive policy priorities such as access to affordable health coverage, paid family leave, health care pricing, mental health supports for infants and toddlers, and more. We remain focused on breaking down barriers and systems rooted in structural racism, and elevating people and ideas that can help catalyze change on the road to an equitable recovery and an anti-racist future.

Position Responsibilities The Senior Vice President will:
Lead client accounts and oversee the creation, management, and execution of communications strategies across a wide array of advocacy campaigns and philanthropic organizationsDevelop compelling messages and create content that turns complicated social policy problems and solutions into simple, powerful, and relatable storiesOversee projects, including budgets, timelines, strategy, and deliverablesServe as a primary point of contact and relationship manager with client leadsLead account teams and mentor staffDevelop new business opportunities, including writing proposals and presenting ideas and strategiesQualifications and Experience12+ years of relevant professional experience in strategic communications and campaigns8+ years of experience managing people, including demonstrated ability to successfully motivate, manage, and mentor a team to meet objectivesDemonstrated ability to lead largecreative communications or media campaigns around policy or political issuesProven commitment to progressive causes such as healthcare reform, criminal justice reform, combating climate change, addressing systemic inequities, and promoting supports for children and families such as paid family leave, childcare, Medicaid, and SNAPAbility to take complex issues and quickly craft easily understood written materialGeneral familiarity with modes of public opinion research such as focus groups, surveys, etc. that inform communications strategies, messages, and creativeExperience collaborating with producers, designers, and other creative professionals to bring stories and messages to life across mediaExperience with media relations and demonstrated relationships with national reporters and/or bloggersExperience managing finances and budgetsStrong understanding of digital strategy and experience using digital tacticsAbility to communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing, with all levels of clients, media, and staff membersAbility to stay organized and handle multiple assignments at once, work quickly, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentProficiency in effectively editing staff materials and helping develop others' writing skillsBachelor's degree or comparable experience in a communications-related fieldPersonal AttributesA deep level of personal commitment to social justice and progressive successStrongcuriosity and knowledge of the current political landscape and national dialogueLow-ego, patient, and compassionate, with a desire to work collaboratively with junior and seniorcolleagues and clientsAn inclusive and empathetic leader, with a passion for staff developmentEnjoys working in a team environment that fosters staff growthMeticulous attention to detailA strong sense of humor and funSalary and BenefitsThe salary range for this role is $175,000-$240,000. Actual salary is determined by a number of factors including skill set and experience relative to the requirements of this role. In addition, alignco provides a substantial benefits package, including:
comprehensive health, vision, and dental insurance401K with an annual employer contribution6 months parental leave, including 5 months paid5 weeks annual paid time offannual stipend for professional developmentalignco is currently offering a hybrid work model. Team members are expected to work from the DC office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and upon request for occasional meetings or events. Team members have the opportunity to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays and during select periods during the summer months. Our hybrid work model is subject to change.
