In this entry level role with a path to advancement, you will go to residential and business customer locations prior to service installation to install a service drop. A service drop is the fiber line that connects a customer's location to Loop's network. We're looking for top-tier talent and provide you with the tools and flexibility you need to thrive and deliver lasting impact.
\n What You'll Be DoingConnect aerial service drop cables to terminals located on utility poles, or terminals located in ground vaults.Attach the service drop to the building being serviced.When installing service drops in areas with underground utilities, fish the cable through pre-existing conduit.Use and understand automated diagnostic equipment (i.e., handheld light meters and OTDR's), and appropriate test equipment to verify proper light levels from the drop fiber and service terminals.Replace existing service drops that are experiencing technical problems.For underground service drops, utilize a plow machine to cut the ground and bury the cable.Assist fiber installation and service technicians as needed.Adapt to changes in the business to include advances in technology, new skills, and procedures.Provide a best-in-class customer experience and serve as an ambassador of Loop Internet within our communities.Be self-motivated and follow through on assignments to completion in a timely manner.Read and interpret outside plant drawings for drop placement, customer service orders and repair tickets.Work at heights by using/setting up various types of ladders. Work in confined spaces.Teamwork - Assist other technicians in the performance of their duties when requested.Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all timesUnderstand and adhere to company safety protocols and policiesPerform other duties as required Education and QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent is required.Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.Excellent organizational and communication skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.Lift up to 75 pounds unassisted.Ability to climb a ladder.Must be accountable and dependable.Previous experience working with fiber optic cables or low voltage wiring helpful.Ability to work in various temperature conditions.Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays as needed.Ability to be on call on a rotating basis.Understand and demonstrate basic voice and data uses and applications.
