Description
Purpose:
Performs basic diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned agricultural and turf equipment.
May require some direction or guidance from the Service Manager or senior technicians.

Responsibilities:
Performs basic diagnostics and repairs on agricultural and turf equipment and established Ag Management Solutions (AMS) productsParticipates in Service EDUCATE Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledgeMaintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive productsMaintains condition of vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipmentMaintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashionFollows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignmentsCompletes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignmentsAccounts for all time on a timecard and for all material used in performing assigned dutiesMay perform diagnosis and repair in the fieldInteracts in a positive and respectful manner with customers and fellow employeesParticipates in the After-Hours ProgramActively assists in recruiting service workShares knowledge and skills with other company techniciansMaintains and promotes a safe work environment.
Demonstrates understanding of and ability to follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignmentsPerforms other duties as assigned Qualifications
Experience, Education, Skills, and Knowledge:
High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Associates degree preferred1+ years of experience performing service repairs or certificate/diploma from a recognized programAbility to perform basic repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual proceduresProficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in the repair of agricultural and turf equipmentAbility to use Service Advisor and basic computer functionsAbility to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposesAbility to use a forklift/skid loader, forklift certification preferredProficient oral and written communication skillsBasic Service Technician certification preferred
Physical and Mental and Other Requirements:
Frequent bending and stoopingAbility to repeatedly lift up to 75 lbs.Standing for extended periods of timeOccasional work outdoors in extreme heat or cold, rain or snowOccasional work on laddersOccasional work in confined spacesAbility to work extended hours and weekendsValid drivers license with an insurable driving record requiredMust pass a pre-employment background study
