Shipping and Receiving Associate Job Description Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Shipping and Receiving Associate to join our team at our facility in North Branford, CT. The ideal candidate will have experience with forklifts, packaging, basic computer skills, excellent communication skills, and previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment.
Utilizes scales and packs parts per customer requirements. Inspects material handling equipment for defects and maintains vehicle inspection report. Unpacks and examines incoming shipments and notifies quality or management of issues. Affixes shipping labels and prepares pallets or barrels for shipping. Stage palletized shipments for pickup. Maintain lot and Job Integrity Use First-In/First Out (FIFO) principle for pulling parts by lot numbers. Verify WIP labels match finished goods labels-paying close attention to part number. Help prepare scrap for pick-up. Be able to carry out directions from supervisor or management. Be able to stand or sit for long lengths of time. Ability to lift or move up to 35 pounds. Utilize various shipping equipment: Hand trucks, forklift, scales, Packing Machine, pallet wrapper, wave lift and box maker. Use ERP ship schedule to identify shipments to pull and process paperwork. Keep work area neat and organized. Assist with inventory control. Help with receiving as needed (unloading trucks, shipment verification, and enter into ERP system. Utilize basic computer skills to input shipping and receiving data Communicate effectively with team members and external partners Work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment to meet shipping deadlines Qualifications Experience operating forklifts Prior packaging experience Basic computer skills Excellent communication skills Previous experience in a manufacturing environment You should be proficient in:
