Job Description Shipping and Receiving Lead

This role will be located in our Houston, TX location.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Manages the shipment and receipt of all products, materials, and supplies. Collaborates and communicates with Program Managers, Lab Managers, Admin, and others involved in the shipment and receipt of products. Tracks, traces, and updates the status of incoming and outgoing shipments. Maintains a clean, neat, and member-ready area. Promptly unloads trucks and deliveries and sorts and stocks receivables. Maintains an accurate log sheet of daily moves, scanning inventory, and counting accurately. Engages with vendors and drivers with a positive attitude. Provides additional backup support for other departments. Act as the primary point of contact for internal teams, clients, and shareholders regarding international shipping matters.
Facilitate clear and effective communication to resolve issues, provide updates, and ensure alignment with shipping objectives. Shipping and receiving of hazardous materials Utilize advanced shipping and logistics technologies to streamline operations and track shipments. Provide expert guidance on international shipping strategies, best practices, and compliance requirements.
Assist in the development and implementation of shipping policies and procedures to optimize efficiency and mitigate risks. Other duties as assigned.

Follow and enforce all safety requirements and company policies Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients, both Internal and External Obtain quotes from vendors Create Purchase Requests for departmental consumables and supplies Send and receive packages and shipments of client test materials, and maintain S&R log and other applicable documentation Build crates and package shipments Deliver packages Store inventory Provide transportation to/from airports Transport vehicles and/or parts to/from location Make supply runs Perform other work as required Requirements: High School Diploma or GED required Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license Must possess (or be capable of obtaining) a DOT medical examiner's certificate to drive a company commercial vehicle HAZMAT Shipping certification preferred Forklift certification preferred Basic familiarity Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, and Outlook primarily) Why work at Intertek?
