Job Description Mailroom/ Shipping & Receiving Clerk Job Summary:
Responsible for the basic administration of incoming and outgoing mail, using both manual and automated methods.
Responsible for receiving merchandise, unloading, or unpacking it, marking it with codes to be identified, stocking shelves, and helping customers place and pickup orders.
Works in warehouse or stockroom and other storage facilities.
May involve heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.
unassisted).
Handling of some work order requests.
Reports to the shipping/ receiving supervisor.
Essential Job Duties: Collects, receives, sorts and delivers incoming, outgoing and interdepartmental mail (Includes morning pickup at the Post Office). Maintain and update the mail route as needed; revise address book and dock receiving book with additions and departures for all employees on site.
Assist shipping/receiving manager on the dock when necessary.
Receive and deliver packages as needed.
Track Packages for employees.
Audits delivered items.
Approves or rejects deliveries based on inspections. Prepares and examines outgoing mail for appearance and seals.
Ensures all shipped packages are adequately protected against damage. Answer Dock Phone requests after 2:30 when Lead Receiver leaves. Over the road box truck delivery and interplant run (requires yearly medical clearance and DOT certification) as needed.
Monitors Workplace Management System for delivery and service request (Waste drum delivery, FedEx pickup, glass cleaning, etc.
). Escort delivery people on site (dry Ice, water, uniform, document destruction, etc.
). May perform other duties as assigned. Availability for flexible hours if needed.
Skills, Education and Experience: High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required or relevant experience Must have a minimum of Two (2) years business experience dealing with internal and/or external customer service. Ability to read and comprehend all documented procedures. Ability to use various types of material handling equipment including manual and battery powered forklift (Forklift operation certification desired). Must possess a valid in-state driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to function as a team member in a demanding service environment. Ability to handle and prioritize multiple requests. Knowledge of Integrated Workplace Management System preferred.
