Shipping Supervisor

Job Overview
The supervisor oversees, guides, and coordinates the Shipping Program and supports the plant safety goals (SQF, GMP's, etc.). The individual is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the shipping department on 2nd/3rd shift, communicating direction to hourly employees, overseeing the progress of order fulfillment for both fresh and frozen products, and reviewing order status for deficiencies throughout the evening. This individual will also serve as a key point of contact for communicating issues between plants and other depots.
Responsibilities Maintain dock operations, including cleanliness, to allow for continuous shipping operation.Maintain a good working relationship with all other departments.Train and cross-train shipping operators to minimize disruption due to unforeseen circumstances.Be available during off shifts for breakdowns and be contactable during off hours.Complete daily paperwork including schedules, logs, and other pertinent documentation.Ensure compliance with safety, GMP's, security, and PPE policies and guidelines.Ensure all Transport drivers follow DOT regulations.Keep the dock and associated shipping areas clean and in good condition.Administer disciplinary action in accordance with Company policy when needed.Notify relevant managers of all pertinent issues in a timely manner.Notify the Quality Assurance Manager of any potential food safety risk.Communicate and administer all Company policies and procedures consistently.Work extra hours or days if necessary.Commit to a continuous improvement work team environment.Perform all other duties as assigned.Working Relationship Work as a team supporting and communicating properly with other members of the production line and maintenance.Interface with all department management, leads, and machine operators to determine maintenance assistance needs.Assist outside carriers as needed.Work closely with leaders and management.Physical Demands Pushing, pulling, bending.Able to work on feet for the entire shift.Perform tasks requiring standing, lifting, pulling, climbing of machinery and/or tooling.
