Our team is responsible for delivering world-class Audio-Animatronic figures, show action equipment and special effects through their full lifecycle. We partner with various teams to help deliver quality products and our processes and tools help to take us from concept design to production and Engineers within the department drive the design and development of animatronic figures and show action equipment, where durability, reliability, and safety are a must. We are responsible for various engineering tasks: concepts, mockups, design, hazard analysis, FMEA & system safety, FEA, design reviews, documentation, and the overall functionality to fulfill the creative intent. The candidate will support different phases of the engineering process which includes design from concept development through final design, production, test, installation, and commissioning for a variety of theme park attractions.This position will report to the Show Mechanical Engineering Manager.What You Will DoDetail design auditing and review of highly integrated electro-mechanical actuator designs and documentationPerform and review the design of and engineering of complex electro-mechanical systemsComplete Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of mechanical designsBe the responsible Individual for sub-system vendor/contractor management and oversightComplete SolidWorks models, drawing development and releaseSpecifying and managing testing efforts with internal and external partiesManaging certification efforts between design and productionWorking with stakeholders and external parties to establish manufacturing plansRequired Qualifications & Skills 7 years of shown experienceDesign and integration of electric actuation systemsAbility to proactively address problems, adjust scope, and update managementUnderstanding of manufacturing and quality control processesKnowledge of machine design, GD&T and the design for manufacturing processes e.g. CNC machining, sheet metal, 3d printing, plastics and mold design.Experience with engineering design tools e.g. SolidWorks, ANSYS, MATLAB,Travel both domestic and international as neededAvailability to work various shifts commensurate with global project requirements (typically 8am – 5 pm)Have experienced full concept to delivery cycle of productsExcellent documentation skillsPreferred Qualifications Themed Entertainment experienceProfessional Engineer LicenseShock & vibe, environmental cycle testing embedded systemsRobotic systems design experienceExperience bringing product to market requiring certifications by certifying bodiesExperience executing in a small cross-functional team environmentStrong understanding of PCBA assembly and manufacturing processesEducation Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Engineering Mechanics.Master's Degree or equivalent in Engineering or Master of Business Administration preferredAdditional Information Disney offers a rewards package to help you live your best life. The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $123,000 to $165,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
