Performs various clinical and non-clinical tasks in the clinic to ensure efficient clinic flow and effective patient care.
Assists with aspects of patient care, under general supervision of a physician, including basic lab and screening procedures as appropriate. Major Responsibilities: Oversees the day-to-day operations for assigned staff for maximum efficiency and productivity.
Acts as an expert resource to staff and assists with/resolves complex customer service issues or concerns.
Supports manager with developing and modifying staffing schedules to support business needs and fills coverage gaps as needed.
Makes recommendations and changes to schedules as needs dictate.
Supports the manager with human resources responsibilities for staff, which may include interviewing and input into selection of new employees, staff development, performance evaluation feedback, resolution of employee concerns, and building employee morale caregiver engagement.
Acts as a resource to employees and students, which includes training/orienting, providing day-to-day work direction, and giving input on performance.
Assigns, monitors, and reviews progress and accuracy of work, monitors productivity, maintains appropriate staffing levels, and directs patient delivery workflow.
Communicates effectively with patient, family or significant others and provides them with necessary emotional support.
Follows through with necessary procedure or test requests, pre-approved care algorithms, new appointment times and referral to other facilities or services.
Supports in interpreting department policies and procedures, advises and updates staff on procedural changes.
Identifies performance improvement opportunities within the department and facilitates change.
Monitors inventory levels, labor productivity and assists with managing department resources.
Communicates effectively with physicians and other members of the health care team and support staff to ensure patient safety, smooth clinic flow, and adjusts as necessary.
May participate in team conferences regarding patient problems.
Instructs patient regarding routine procedures.
Answers clinical questions or refers questions to registered nurses and physicians/providers per scope of practice guidelines and relays information back to patient as directed.
Assists the physician/provider with procedures.
Completes routine maintenance and quality monitoring of clinic equipment using appropriate technique when cleaning, sterilizing, and caring for instruments and other equipment.
Identifies equipment performance issues and ensures and/or performs equipment quality assurance tests and calibration procedures.
Reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate staff and evaluates new products and equipment.
Promotes growth by participating in marketing efforts, community outreach events.
Reviews Patient Satisfaction, Associate Engagement, Culture of Safety other reports in partnership with Manager to develop action plans to continue to elevate outcomes.
Education/Experience Required: Associate degree or equivalent.
Minimum of three years' experience in business office operations Plus 1-2 years lead, or supervisory experience Typically requires 2 years of experience in performing as a medical assistant which includes demonstrated competency in performing: injections, immunizations, EKG, obtaining vital signs, routine medication administration, aseptic technique, and infection control guidelines.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: Demonstrated leadership skills such as: team building, ability to delegate and provide work direction effectively, organization / managing multiple priorities, etc.
Excellent customer service skills essential.
Ability to effectively communicate (both orally and in writing) with physicians, staff, and patients.
Intermediate computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar products, electronic mail, physician practice management and electronic medical record systems.
Medical Assistant (CMA) certification issued by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), OR Registered Electroencephalographic Technologists (REEGT), OR Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), OR Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) Current CPR Certification Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must be able to: lift to 50 lbs.
