As Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) within our growing team, you will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks related to our projects and firm including assisting in day-to-day operations on the project site and managing safety. You will be on site during construction and will be responsible for the safety and occupational health management, surveillance, inspections, and safety enforcement. Success in this position requires a dynamic individual with high energy and motivation with an acute passion for implementing sustainable energy solutions for the next generation of buildings and facilities. We seek high-potential individuals who can learn quickly and grow with the organization, assuming additional responsibility as the organization expands over the next several years.
Location: Our office location is in Arlington, VA. and the client project location is in Washington DC. Applicants must be within a commutable distance to Washington DC or be willing to relocate for this opportunity. You will be required to be at the construction site daily. Critical responsibilities include: Serve as SSHO reporting directly to the Construction Project ManagerCarries out all activities in relation to the implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of the OH&S Management System complying with ISO 45001.Manage, implement, and enforce the accepted Safety Accident Prevention PlanMaintain a safety and health deficiency tracking system that monitors outstanding deficiencies until resolution. Distribute a list of unresolved safety and health deficiencies.Write Safety proposals, interpret regulations, develop training, draft inspection standards and draft safety assessment tools.Ensure subcontractor compliance with CEG and site-specific safety standards, codes, regulations.Assist with the management of project schedules.Assist with site access, including all site visits and deliveries.Assist with identifying unknown risks, managing risk impact and how they will be addressed and mitigated.Assist in project and business development responsibilities during development and implementation.Collect field information and pictures as necessary.Perform other field or office duties as assigned. Required qualifications include but are not limited to: Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health or related field (preferred not required)Minimum 5 years of experience in construction and safety management required.Minimum 5 years of experience with construction, construction management, or on-site field work.A passion in the areas of energy efficiency, alternative energy, and sustainability.US Citizen with ability to achieve government security clearance. To be successful in this role you will possess the following: Ability to work irregular hours during implementation.Self-directed personality with a commitment to excellence.Detail oriented and honed observation skills.Strong written and oral communication skills.Interest in project and construction management.Demonstrated ability to function in high performing, multi-disciplinary teams that provide reliable customer satisfaction.Knowledge and experience with Safety and Quality Control standards and procedures.Ability to anticipate challenges and proactively resolve them.Ability to anticipate and solve problems that are not fully defined or expected.Engineering, analytical, and technical writing skills preferred.Knowledge of EM 385 would be a plus but not required.OSHA-30, CSP, ASP certification is preferred Hybrid Work Model Most of our team operates in a remote or hybrid workplace model that optimizes a combination of virtual and in-person interactions. We are intentional when we co-locate with each other and our clients for maximum impact while empowering our people to preserve the flexibility that they desire. The nature of our work managing client transformations within our construction team will require some team members to be onsite at client locations, therefore the ability to travel is expected.

Wages + Salary The budgeted salary range for this position is $85,000 to $105,000 annually. CEG Solutions LLC takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
Please note that this is a general estimate and does not incorporate any adjustments for geographic location. Typically, starting salaries are determined based on individual qualifications and experience, and may fall below the top end of the range.
In addition to your salary, you may qualify for our annual bonus program. This program is discretionary and awards, if any, are based on your performance as well as the company's overall success.
Physical Demands and Work Environment Performance of the job responsibilities will require the ability to (1) use tools and operate equipment in the field, (2) ascend/descend both exterior and interior ladders/stairs, and (3) move safely around an area under construction. The employee must also be able to easily communicate with clients, stakeholders, and other employees and observe various pieces of equipment in the field. The employee must occasionally move and/or transport up to 75 pounds.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works at the construction work site where the employee where risk of moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud. Personal protection equipment and required safety training will be provided by the employer.
