New Jersey's premier academic health center, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) takes an integrated approach to educating students, providing clinical care, and conducting research, all to improve human health. Aligned with Rutgers University–New Brunswick and collaborating university-wide, RBHS includes Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and seven other schools, a behavioral health network, and five centers and institutes that focus on cancer treatment and research, neuroscience, advanced biotechnology and medicine, environmental and occupational health, and health care policy and aging research.
The Faculty member will support the Neurosurgery services at RWJMS and RWJBH. This position will support the Department of Neurosurgery in its clinical and academic mission.

This position will support the Department of Neurosurgery in its clinical and academic mission.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESClinical Responsibilities Demonstrates clinical competence and surgical excellence in neurosurgery.Demonstrates factual knowledge and technical skills in the preoperative evaluation, operative management, and postoperative care of patients, including critical care, with pathologic conditions pertaining to neurosurgical care.Demonstrates knowledge and surgical experience in evolving techniques, such as endovascular procedures.Maintains compliance with all applicable State, Federal, UNOS, CMS, and Joint Commission laws, rules, regulations, and requirements.Surgically evaluates and treats patients who are determined to require services.Rounds daily on patient(s) in accordance with best practices.Attends departmental and interdepartmental physician meetings, morbidity and mortality conferences, and other meetings deemed appropriate.Completes required medical documentation for patients' charts in a timely manner according to hospital bylaws.Provides accurate and detailed reports to referring physicians in a timely manner.Provides accurate and complete information required for billing and coding.Provides clear instructions and explanations regarding diagnosis, treatment, medications, and follow-up to patients and their family members.Collaborates with surgeons, members of the surgical team, nurses, nurse practitioners, ancillary staff, and other physicians.Maintains effective working relationships with attending physicians outside of the Department and other Hospital department staff.Respects others' time, including punctual arrival to meetings.Demonstrates thorough knowledge and adherence to Hospital policies and procedures.Responsible for up to 120 days per year of general neurosurgery and open vascular on-call coverage.All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of all pre-employment screenings.
