Project Description:DRT provides solutions to address diverse, complex, and emerging problems within the public health domains of environmental health, infectious disease, chronic disease, and emergency preparedness/emergency response. Our support includes the design, development, and enhancements of research programs and prototype methodologies. Our team develops innovative data capture and analysis techniques in the field to enhance emergency response efforts all around the world.
Job Summary:The Social Science Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) work directly with public health analysts, project managers, climate scientists, insurance experts, and technologists. The SMEs conduct research and recommend approaches on the analysis and development of capabilities and methodologies for analyses of high-impact weather events.
Responsibilities:Supports cross-functional teams in defining and scoping the objective and intended outcomes of public health and social science projectsIdentifies, recommends, and implements the best analytical approaches and tools to achieve project objectivesReviews project plans, documents, and products for quality, soundness, and feasibilityProvides context and background on public health, economics, and weather data sets to analysts, coordinators, and technologistsConnects project teams with internal and external stakeholders using the SME's public health network and connectionsDevelops and delivers communications, including trainings, to team members and external public health professional partnersConducts literature reviews and supports the publication of peer-reviewed articlesPerforms independent analyses in addition to overseeing the analyses and documentation of project team membersRequired Experience:Must have or be able to obtain a Public Trust with the US federal governmentAt least eight years' experience with public health projects, programs, and missionsMust have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)Must be well-organized, proactive, and work well in a team-settingPreferred Experience:Recent experience with the NOAA environment, data, and standards requirementsExperience with the National Weather Service is preferredEducation & Training:Bachelor's degree in social sciences, behavioral science, economics, public health, or related fields; advanced degrees preferredDRT Strategies, Inc.
