Job Title: Software Developer Location: USO-Information Tech Services Regular/Temporary: Regular Full/Part Time: Full-Time Job ID: 278988 About Us The University System of Georgia (USG) is comprised of 26 higher education institutions as well as the University System Office (USO). Within the USO, our administrative operations are primarily housed in the Trinity Washington Building located in downtown Atlanta. Our Information Technology Services (ITS) division is located in Athens. The University System of Georgia Shared Services Center (SSC) is located in Sandersville. The Georgia Public Library System is located in Atlanta. The Georgia Archives is located in Morrow. The State of Georgia Records Center is located in Austell. Job Summary The Enterprise Data Management and Analytics (EDMA) team at Information Technology Services (ITS) within the University System of Georgia is currently seeking an individual to fulfill a position as an intermediate level Software Developer. This individual will have in-depth knowledge of and hands-on experience on dashboard and report design and development on Microsoft Power BI platform. Collaborating with business analysts, and internal and external customers, this individual will be responsible for producing deliverables in the form of reports, dashboards and raw data sets based on business requirements and technical specifications that direct decisions, lead planning, and increase strategic intelligence. The Software Developer will also provide production support for reporting and content presentation applications, activities include but not limited to data analysis, report and dashboard validation and issue resolution, and system enhancement testing. The Software Developer will assist with the development and implementation of best practice processes and procedures throughout the BI toolset, and manage task completion across all implementation phases utilizing department prescribed SDLC methodologies, and in adherence to documentation and development practices. Responsibilities Design and develop reports and dashboards in Microsoft Power BI platform. Responsible for SQL report development and ad hoc data request delivery. Ensure data quality in reports and analytics and apply data governance policies in delivering these to end users. Assist with the development and implementation of best practice processes and procedures throughout the BI toolset. Manage task completion across all implementation phases utilizing department prescribed SDLC methodologies, and in adherence to documentation and development practices. Provide production support to reporting and dashboarding, activities include but not limited to data analysis, testing, issue resolution and enhancements. Identify and mitigate risks and manage resolution of reporting and data visualization implementation issues. Communicate project risks, issues, timelines, solutions, and status to supervisor. Validate system software upgrades and implement changes from reporting and data visualization perspective as necessary to achieve optimal performance after the upgrade. Work with internal and external customers, business analysts, and team leads to analyze and evaluate user business problems, confirm and substantiate functional and technical designs, and develop recommendations to meet requirements. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor¿s degree in computer science, data science, information systems, or a related technical field with minimum of 4 years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, and Data Engineering disciplines in an enterprise IT environment. Advanced experience working with the Oracle DBMS, PL/SQL, SQL. Knowledge of current and emerging data management and analytics technologies. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, detail-oriented, with good multi-tasking and follow-through skills. Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies and skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks, balance priorities, and meet competing deadlines Highly organized and self-motivated. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technology solutions in business terms, establish rapport and persuade others. Knowledge of higher education data with experience in student information systems preferred. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Experience in designing and building lists, crosstabs, graphs, scorecards, metrics, filters, prompts, standard reports, and dashboards. Good analytical skills and knowledge in working with relational and multidimensional database schemas Expert problem-solving skills, including debugging skills, allowing the determination of sources of issues in unfamiliar code or systems, and the ability to recognize and solve repetitive problems. Ability to describe business use cases/outcomes, data sources and management concepts, and analytical approaches/options.
